Me & my family have known of Irv & Chris & them since the early 90s. He used to go to my boy Bobby's house on 207th & 89th ave back in the early 90s & would be playing records for everyone.

Btw , Salt from salt n pepper used to live on that same block & I used to chill with her niece whenever she would be over.

Anyway Mic G was a big deal and was looked at as the one who had next , All of those CMC cats were cool but nobody ever thought they were gonna make noise so Irv.G was looked at like :manny:

I dont think ANYBODY back then could've foreseen the success that whole Murda inc crew would have .. shyt even DJ Clue who was a few blocks over off of Murdock was a bigger deal up until 98.

Mic definitely fukked up fukking with Puff though. that wasnt him. I cant say he regrets it but it was disappointing to his fans, and the album was actually good, I copped it day of...but that single was horrible.

Agreed.

But he wasn't the only one. LOL!! Everyone was try’na get that sound back then because it was selling so much! But that wasn't working for artists like Mic. You had to kinda be directly affiliated with Puff for it to really work for you. I bought the album too, and couldn't get into it. I still listen to his first album though. "Masta I.C." has been my shyt forever!

your right, and we seen that type of shoehorn MANY times before but when it was announced, a lot of us were like :patrice: some artists you just cant turn them in to something they are not. crazy now that we are talking about it, I am gonna pull that album out and listen to it. its a good but forgotten album. crazy I havent listened to it that much when I listen to the Natural multiple times per year.

one thing I do always like to mention though is, Blunt/TVT really put some money in to Mic considering he wasnt a big name. this is one time cant blame it all on the label. they did try although the direction was off.

THIS is what I was taking about. I knew it was something where he went online and set shyt straight.

I didnt know that. I know Mic says he owns a small security company but he does a lot of the physical labor himself, like running wires and such and big ups the fact that he is a working man. he still performs and occasionally in other countries but I think that may be for extra bread because he doesnt seem like he wants to jump all the way back into music.

Remember when Mic ethered NORE humbly cuz NO try to play Mic for being a locksmith.

any links?

Mic handled that like a mature grown man. Nothing but respect for him. Irv a clown and has always been. No one is doubting what he did but the way he addressed this situation was all out wrong. Nore did the same thing a few years ago bringing up Mic and clowning him for leaving rap and getting a trade being a blue collar worker to take care of his family. I'm starting to see a pattern with these cats over the past few weeks and the fact is a lot of these nikkas are just miserable man. They vent on social media and just start mentioning people they broke bread with in a disrepectful manner for no reason at all.
The whole post was him biggin himself up and throwing former associates under the bus b/c they don't rap anymore or decided to choose another path. Clown shyt man.

early DC ep, I wanna say it was the Irv ep or maybe it was the Mega ep

ok. will check. listening to Vendetta now. that album gets forgotten a lot. shyt bangin. forgot about some of the great production up here by Pete Rock, Marley, K-Def, etc...outside of a couple of the pop joints, this was a very good album

also, I remember someone saying that after the confrontation Mic spoke about, Irv proceeded to blackball him, had one of his albums shelved til he had to get a release from label, threatened radio dj's, and threatened venues not to host Mic if they wanted the Inc to play there. Mic said this was not true however and never blamed Irv for anything about his career after Mic's 3rd album.
