It’s still wild to me that interstellar is one of his worst reviewed films critically. I have no clue what wave they were on when this was released. Audience rated it substantially higher.
And before Interstellar, The Prestige was his lowest rated. Which might be my favorite movie of his. Tenet is now.
Interstellar came at the peak of the McConaughassaince. The hype was high. I understand why people have some issues with it, but those same people called him cold before and when he shows a little more sentimentality they still complain. Goats get held to held to higher standards. Damned if you do damned if you don't.
