Sure it's an embarrassment and '22 is long gone now.. but nobody actually stated in here how to deal with Manchin. The margins are razor thin.. how does Biden get a man on board who doesn't want to be on board?

Of course the cynics will just say hey Biden doesn't care either... Fine.. people who have that opinion aren't going to bother to address the Manchin issue because they already believe it's a Biden issue.

But let's say it really is a Manchin issue.... seasoned politicians of Higher Learning... what do you do with Manchin? We've been wondering all year... what's the solution?

Treat him like an opp. Go to WV and hold rallies, run negative campaign ads, withhold financial support, fukk…..don’t let him sit with Dems at the lunch table.

Anything other than what Biden has been doing.

Does that get 50 votes? Or does Manchin just predictably switch parties?
Manchin won’t switch parties because he loses the attention as a GOP. He would probably become an independent and sell his vote to the highest bidder.

He won’t run for re-election in 2024, imo. He gonna retire and pull a Zel Miller.

Of course this sounds as if i'm praising Biden... i'm not because he has been pretty bad since the first couple months. The honeymoon was short..

But it's a real problem and always has been.. not winning Maine and ousting Collins or another state was a huge huge problem and i have no clue how Biden was supposed to navigate that even if he wanted to..

Can this man get kicked out of the democratic party so they can clearly move on that they can't rely on him? He's clearly a republican and the fact that he went on Fox of all places to announce this shows he's just playing a political game. This is a major L for all working class people. It's amazing that we can't pass anything that DIRECTLY benefits people in need. This guy is saying the majority of the people in his state can't use this help? Do they love to OWN democrats then to see their own progress? This is beyond nuts but what's worse is this will be all forgotten in 6 months when another bill comes along and he hustles the party again.
He finessed Biden not them. They stood as long as he supported them. Basically was setting them up to take the blame. No one is going to blame them for this. I’m honestly surprised he did Joe like this. Even Lieberman voted for some form of Obamacare.

He got 85% of what he wanted and even endorsed a $1.8T plan a couple days ago

I have no idea how you get him to a yes. Exxon and other interests have Manchin as their man.

Only thing the Dems shoulda did was pick 3 priorities from the jump that were core i.e. childcare, climate, healthcare and fully fund them for 10 years.

When Joe Biden ran on "I can get things done!" and building a bridge across the aisle, it was in reference to his long tenure in Washington and the relationships he'd built over that time. The central logic of that pitch is that Joe - as a Senate institution and VP - has either the charisma or the dirt or the contacts in DC that would allow him to extract concessions and wins from Congress that other candidates wouldn't be able to. What reality has borne out is that it was a completely bullshyt idea and Joe was selling wolf tickets. I'm not even going to malign Biden's intentions, even if we grant that he really, truly wants to pass these policies, he simply doesn't have the goods. We can say that no other candidate would have had the goods for converting Manchin/Sinema/Republicans either, but they were all offering different strategies that Biden has chosen to forgo in favor of his failed strategy, and we have lost the potential gains that would have come from those other strategies. I fukk with Biden off Afghanistan alone, but he gambled his Presidency and the future of the Democrats on this strategy and it's been a spectacular failure.

All the left was asking was for Biden to put some sort of fight. The bare minimum is what Americans wanted. Take the gloves off and bring it to Manchin and make an example out of him. If Manchin or any Dems in the Senate dares to get in the way of progress "X,Y, and Z" will happen to them. Unfortunately Biden couldn't even do the bare minimum. This is not rocket science tbf. All he had to was try and didn't:yeshrug:

This Christmas gift arrived early for the GOP.:francis:

FTFY.

Progressives didn't trust Manchin, they "trusted" the President who said he had Manchin covered. This is a colossal L for Biden and the country is the one who will suffer.
So they trusted the president you all said was trash, neoliberal senile centrist

everybody takes the L on this one

Biden was a stopgap. i always viewed him that way... that's why it was easier to digest. The orange clown was gone.

But for 2022 and 2024 Dems absolutely needed to get something done because the movement we saw under Trump was real and they aren't stopping. January 6th was alarming.. that we could see that unfold and half of the country was fine with it. That just told us where we are.

Trump's antics were hopefully going to persuade those voters to stay home for future elections because they were "stolen" from them but voting rights assures that the GOP will win regardless of turnout.

Dems have nothing to run on for 2022. Even the pandemic is still a problem. it's over for Dems unless the GOP has a couple own goals.

Why are @wire28 and @Atlrocafella so happy?

Biden himself told the Progressive Caucus to their face in person, I'm getting the 50 votes in the Senate. The CPC largely agreed.

Are you all saying they should have held out on the infrastructure bill?
Who said I was happy. Damn you need my attention more than a new born baby :russ: stick to keeping us updated on Twitter please
