Interesting thread.

Here in Dallas there's a decent sized Trini Indian population. Older Indians from India hate the hell out of them. Even those who can trace their lineage back to India. Just think of them as lower caste. I knew a lot of Indians around here were racist, but I was very ignorant of such a concept. Interesting to hear that those being oppressed are passing on the racism. Could be something interesting to study.

People who are racist typically restrict their friendships to certain races, mainly their own or a race they deem the ruling class. This is how you can tell if the ruling class is demonic because sadly, friends, a fish stinks at its head, not its tail.

Its so demonic, friends.

Anyone feel free to answer but should I look at Indians as a malevolent group for now on?

Indians from India look at Trini and GT Indians as not authentic.

When I was like 13 me and my moms went to the Indian grocery store as usual to get a few things you can't get at a usual supermarket. My moms is kinda like me in terms of looks, if she's around a bunch of spanish people she'll look spanish, if she's around black people she won't really stand out too much, plus she doesn't rock Indian garb like that unless she's going to an Indian function or whatever...anyway we were on line waiting to pay for our stuff and the cashier and this other Indian lady started to talk mad shyt about us in hindi...saying shyt like "look at these guyanese people, what is she doing in here, does she even know what to do with this? (the items we were buying) :leon: my moms then shyt on them bytches in hindi and we left, had them broads looking like :dwillhuh::sadbron:

incidents like this are why my moms eventually began to share my views on a lot of Indian people in America....they be on that bullshyt. I was like hey mom I tried to tell ya

My mom's Indian Surinamese, dad's black Dutch Antillian.

Very similar situation in Surinam. The Dutch brought the Indians over when the black folk walked away from the plantations, after a while the Indians took over the land that the Dutch owned and in lots of cases hired the blacks back.

Race relations are a b!tch way beyond black and white.

Blacks never trusted the Indians because they were seen, historically, as the white man's partners.
Indians never trusted the blacks because they were told, historically, that they're lazy ignorants.

When the blacks first saw Indians they were "paid" (the pay was :birdman: ) servants confirming their stereotypes.
When the Indians first saw blacks they refused to work (associating the Indians with the former slave masters) confirming their stereotypes.

"And still I see no changes :to: "

In Toronto a lot of Caribbean Indians do the most to emphasize that they aren't Indians from India, some even get offended if you assume they are :skip:

alot of them are proud of their "brown ness'" but yes they are keen to distinguish themselves as caribbean or from da eyelands

in my experience here in toronto, ive never seen tensions between black and brown folks from the islands, there may be minor issues from back home or wahtver but people here tend to click with each other

Realest post in here. Clear, concise, and to the root of the problem.

Thanks, to be fair though as others have pointed out the root of the problem, and the reason many East Indians and Black Guyanese hold racist views really goes way back. I mean the reason the political parties have been set up like they are is due to a variety of reasons. Some of it stems from colonialist mentalities that many Guyanese still have, and some of it is just due to staight politics and greed.

Black aren't doing too bad in Guyana, something like 80-90% of government workers in Guyana are Black. A lot of East Indians though as we see in North America have their children pursue Medicine, Computer Science, Agriculture etc. To me while both groups do have some complaints I can't really be bothered with it. At the end of the day neither group has had it too bad in Guyana. The only group in Guyana that really should have any major beef is the Natives. They are treated like animals, people take advantage of them, and many of the women that come from the bush looking for jobs get sold into the sex trade, its disgusting.

Also, I noticed some have mentioned that East Indians from India look down on Indians from Guyana and Trinidad that shyt is true for real. Atleast the older ones seem to. They think you aren't Indian, and are a lower class to them.
