The British weren't angels, but I gotta give them props for what they did do right. West Indians are proud of their literacy rates. At least we used ot be...not so sure about these days. My grandmother talks about the Queen like a hero Be having me like sometimes.

And about Trini, i always look at them like our sister island...but they have a much better economy due to oil i believe so you dont see as much strife imo. Its a joke though, all the coolie people live on the island of Trinidad, and the blacks come from Tobago. To this day....every Trini i've met fits that mold lol.

a lot of west indians have something called a colonist mentality where they actually are proud of being colonized by the brits and some even think somehow they're british. It's sad to like your oppressor, a rapist of your people's labor, and land, and women. It's like when filipnos think they're spanish. Trinidad island it half indian and half black. Tobago more or less have the same.

They came as laborers after the abolition of slavery along with the Chinese and others. They ended up staying after their service was up basically.

I'll never forget this Indian guyanese dude telling me how much he hates black people, and that "back home black people are just jealous because indians own all the businesses and are successful when all they do is beg," meanwhile this dude was darker than tar

he thought I was guyanese though and I thought about hurting his feelings and telling him well I'm Indian and most Indians look at you guys as trash I didn't though.

I knew a lot of guyanese people growing up and I never really got along with them aside from messing with the girls. They are like regular indian people in that they tend to be very clickish and stick to their own, which I dont like at all. I get along better with trini's...it's way more common to see trini's kick it with whoever. Probably why my girl is trini.

This is all very very true. The Indians have amassed a disgusting amount of wealth in Africa and treat the native Africans like shyt in their own countries. One of many reasons why I generally don't trust them.

They're much bigger black haters than whites and Arabs.

The situation in Guyana, and to a lesser extent, Trinidad and Tobago, is that though the earliest Indians to come to the island came in chains, they came as indentured laborers, specifically to replace the slaves that had been working there, so they started off with an advantage when compared to slaves and recent freedmen. The other issue is that many Indians migrated there specifically to start businesses and make fortunes, which Black people didn't do, so they came with some of the resources and knowledge necessary to do that. Eventually, the migration + population growth led to them becoming the majority, which, combined with their economic power, led to this situation.

Sad. I think the situation is very similar in Mauritius.

No it's the corruption. African politicians blatantly (like daylight robbery) embezzle literally close to all of the aid money these countries receive and do zero about unemployment, famine, starvation. Mugabe LITERALLY emptied the Zimbabwean banks and took everything. Zimbabwe has high literacy.

I also want to point out in here Guyanese =/= Indian. WE are a very diverse land. They just happen to be the majority over there right now...probably for the rest of time now. But Guyanese have influence form the Dutch, Germans, Asians, we have all the hispanic countries around us, Suriname, an African ancestry population. Very diverse place. My mom's father side are actually Portuguese, but she is mixed with black as well. Last name is DosSantos.

Didn't read the whole thread, but yeah East Indian Guyanese are racist towards Black Guyanese and Black Guyanese are racist towards East Indian Guyanese as well. When you have your political parties as basically one race each fighting for power there is going to be problems.
