my bad. i just realized there are a fair amount of muslims in india.
i stand correctedI work for a tech company based in SV. The entire engineering team is literally 50% indian, 50% chinese, 80% men. 1 white guy lol. A lot of them earn good money but they're also on visas so they earn less than their american counterparts.

We have Intel offices out here in Phoenix so they're pretty deep, and even tho they have money they are the most haggling mothafukkas on the planet, and the whole process just seems to take wayyyy longer than most customers cuz they're extremely diligent. They very often have a wingman with them who will either talk just as much as the customer, or barely even speak English but will talk their ass off to their buddies in another language while negotiating the deal. It's never a simple, straightforward process with them. Salesmen with only an hour or so left in their shift bewhen they see some Patels come in. You bout to waste a ton of time only to either have them shop your numbers somewhere else & buy there, or lose damn near all your gross after they haggle you down to the absolute lowest number. I guess I can't be mad at them tho, they just tryna get the best price possible at all costs, but MAN do they wear you down after 3-4 hours working with them:cowhand:

I'm in sales and I feel you. The classic Indian bargaining tactic is to ask "how much if I buy X amount?"....when you get a favorable price, you say okay I'll take it at that price, but I only want 1 or I'm leaving

Patels and Sikhs/Singhs are the most dominant social Indian groups overseas and they come from historically poor, lower-caste farming and merchant classes. They got to where they are at by being industrious and tight-knit.
The only affluent Indians who were well off like that even in India are those Tamilians and other South Indian Brahmins. These are the types that are in silicon valley, running tech companies, etc....but even Brahmins being wealthy is a relatively newer phenomenon, at least in India.

i'm not indian, but my philosophy is if the $5 isn't a big deal then the dealership would relent right there. but it is a big deal to them at the time and that's why they allowed you all to walk. if it's a big deal to them it should be a big deal to you. fukk their gross, they get enough suckers coming in on a daily basis they make up the difference on them.

I've bought one car in my life. It was a MULTI-DAY negotiation involving 3 different people at the dealership. I thought the deal was done on Day 1 but pops was like "no! we're walking!" over $5 a month on the lease payment. They watched us leave in disbelief from inside and called us back a few days later to cave in on the $5 a month. My dad LIVES for this type of shyt.
another thing in a similar vein is at the grocery store i'm checking out and the cashier overcharges me by like 25 cents and i point it out and they always have a look like damn it's only a quarter and i point out to them that if something costs a $1 and i offer to pay them $0.75 they'll say no it's a $1. if it's a big deal to them it's a big deal to me. my after tax income belongs to me and i decide how i want to part with it.

Its not an overall number, and shouldn't be treated as such.
That being said these numbers are promising.
The point is, the myth of black people not valuing education is false. Black people talk about "education" and being "educated" more than any other group I've ever come across.
I just find it fascinating how so many black people believe the worst about their group off rip.

Or they are coming for university to earn STEM degree.
The 80s and 90s era of all Indians being cab drivers and qwik e mart workers is over. A lot of them saw the opportunity in tech and got on it while we slept.
Now India itself is FULL of poor illiterate people. Their illiteracy rate is crazy, it's just that when you have a billion ppl a lot of them are going to be smart and driven and if you take the best it's going to be huge numbers of skilled hustlers arriving which skews our perception of their people as a whole.
