Tbh, I don't think u hated him. I think u hated moreso the switcheroo Konami did. They teased us w/ the Tanker chapter for the longest, and then when we finally got the game that part was only a 20 minute prologue.
I think it woulda been dope if they had done a character select w/ branching paths instead of them forcing him on us.
It's probably some of that, but I still would have wanted to play Solid Snake only and not have Raiden involved at all.

Raiden looked wack as hell too. That sneaking suit he used was super trash. Konami was tripping hard with that switch.

Yea, that bodysuit shyt was hella sus. They could have added some accessories on bra, or just gave him some regular pants

I love the first 3 and I like 5 but sadly it didn't finish. I didn't play 4 cause I skipped PS3 and went with Xbox 360. I wish you able to play MGS4 on PS4 or PS5. It would be nice if they released MSG series on classic catalog in PS Premium so I can play 4.

I noticed nobody likes or picks MSG4 can anyone tell me what went wrong with MSG4?

Raiden was that dude, I fukked with him.

Damn, it's hard to vote but I'm going to vote for MGS3.

4 was good. It just had some departures or differences in gameplay that some fans didn’t like. And it had excessive cutscene/story stuff that was even too much and too convoluted for a metal gear game.

I enjoyed it and it’s definitely worth playing but it’s locked away on punk ass PS3 right now so i doubt we will get to revisit it :smh:

To answer the OP it’s MGS1 for me. The first time was the best time for me :ahh:

even though i loved the rest of the games as well.

MGS 1 is the best hands down.
It didn't age as well as the others but even today as far as gameplay it's still very enjoyable.
Had the best story, music, GOAT level voice acting.

As one of the biggest MGS stans in this forum I'm going to say that while a great game, I find MGS 3 to be over rated.

I honestly don't understand why people give MGS4 so much hell. The only part of that game that I didn't like was the section where they forced you to walk through the streets slowly in that trench coat disguise before finding Eve. That part felt like a chore. The rest to me was legendary. As a fan of Solid Snake, MGS4 is special. I think Kojima made a lot of mistakes with the story telling. Going from Solid Snake to goofy Raiden was a mistake. Jumping to Big Boss was a happy medium and I think people rate MGS3 on a curve because of how weird Raiden was in MG2. It was a layup by simply not making Raiden the main character again.

If it wasn't for the corporate behind the scenes non-sense between Kojima and Konami, MGSV would be a top 10 game of all time.
Everything the fans wanted is in that game from a gameplay perspective. The abrupt ending and clearly unfinished story make it one of gaming's all time biggest upsets.

My ranking of the mainline games from best to "worst" (and none of them are "bad games" at all):
MGS1
MGS4
MGS3
MGSVTPP/Ground Zeroes (and I'm inclined to even put this above MGS3)
MGS2

Ahhhhh the golden age of gaming :blessed:
:pachaha:
MGS 1 - 4 were all cutscene heavy.
I think 1 and 4 were the most egregious though. For better or for worse, it's part of what makes MGS, MGS.

I imagine with some time on google we could find some hard data on how long the cutscenes were for each game.
On a quick search I found this. No idea how accurate it is; it feels off but I honestly don't care enough to do real research right now.
The ending of MGS4 was an hour long :laff:

You find MGS 3 to be overrated. Well, MGS4 was overloaded, as in it had too much damn loading. That's why it's given hell. Also, it's the only one in the series were the game feels so disrupted and broken up into "levels". I mean, V kinda was as well, but it didn't feel as much as IV did. IV felt really dope at the time, but harder to replay for sure for the reasons mentioned.

I mean, you know what you are getting into with a metal gear game but MGS4 was wild with the cutscenes :mjlol:

And then with like you mentioned the forced walking sections and the game didn’t seem to have much gameplay. There were no extended gameplay sections ala MGS1 where you just had to figure stuff out.

I liked it cause i liked being back to solid snake and the gameplay was good when they let you play it.

Yeah, pretty much. 1 and 3 had the perfect balance of story/movie delivery with gameplay and until 5, 3 had the best overall gameplay and some of the best boss fights as well. It's why 3 is heralded because it just does just about everything right and the send off to the Boss was *chef's kiss*. Meanwhile, II, IV & V had shenanigans abound as to what slighted their greatness.
