Right now I would take Rui but he did come to league more polished than Cam did coming out of Gonzaga

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying... Cam seems to be lethargic and it’s disgusting but he is a rookie smh I’ll be patient but so far I’m getting Marvin Williams vibes

Some folk that don’t watch the hawks don’t know how much losing Collins and Huerter, killed this team. Right now it’s clear to me that Rui Hachimura is better than Cam and would have been better than “Always underachieving” Cam Reddish. What do y’all think about Rui vs Cam ? Am I overreacting ?
A. Rui was drafted higher.
B. Players who play defense hard and very effective always have struggled shooting.
C. Cam is doing a lot of the eye test things I want to see right even if failing on the obvious things like playing through traffic, finishing and obviously shooting.

At the end of the day, if you want to sell your stock, I am buying right now. Just don't ask for it back.

I think you are overreacting. Only because a lot of his issues are fixable.

He has high awareness at least off the ball and on defense.
He moves exceptionally well.
He is extremely fast with the ball
He has a good first step for anyone
He has a flexible and quick release
His defense is already high quality for a rotation starter and has a chance to be elite.
His length, athleticism, and speed cause a lot of issues on defense.
He can generate space without the defense willingly giving to him.
He can create for others and has good court vision and plays out of the PnR very well for anyone much less a rookie.

As I said, you can focus on the obvious flaws but once those things are fixed, what's you have is a top-end two wing monster. Offensively, he is like an of high school 2nd rounder like Lou Williams and Rashard Lewis. Duke used him in ways that just haven't been that effective for us and wasn't for him on offense. We are fixing that. It will take time.

Marvin was a much better player at this stage. I don't get the Marvin comparisons, Cam has a lot of strengths in areas which were flaws for Williams while Marvin was much stronger in areas like finishing, shooting, the ability to handle contact while finishing although he couldn't dribble and keep his balance to save his life even more than Smoove, NBA strength, and flexible offensively while completely lacking the upside of Reddish. Let's be clear, Marvin was a much better shooter and finisher than Reddish at this point. Marvin won freshman POY at UNC and was fundamental in helping them with the natty. Cam had a great stat line in the NCAA tournament and played great defense but it was the R.J. and Zion show for the most part.

Damn I thought y’all was gonna make some noise, how do y’all think they’ll be once the other guys come back?

Me too, I was hoping they’d get Zion but fukk it. Hawkset in a good position, if they get another great lotto pick they can add a second star with Trae and if they make a playoff run he gets much needed postseason experience. No need to rush it. :manny:
