Of course the ATL
I been mixin strands brehs :wow:

We finna ball the fukk out, play some entertaining ass basketball, end up the 10th seed, and then get ping-ponged up to the 4th pick :banderas:

@AVXL 3 games vs NY, Miami, and Dallas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1 game vs Cleveland. I'm not letting you get away with trying to piss on our parade. Being up and down doesn't mean you don't have heart. There's no way we win those 3 games the way we did if we didn't have that dog in us. Trae got that dog in him. Cam got that dog in him. John got that dog in him. Hunter got that dog in him. Of course we're gonna be inconsistent when we only have 3 rotation guys born before the Olympics were here and 1 of them is older than the Olympics itself, but I'm gonna take more from 3 4th quarter comebacks, with 2 against current playoff teams, than I am 1 loss on the second night of a back to back right before the break.

You can be pessimistic and hope that all this good mojo goes out the window, our rooks show no development, and we flop the rest of the way just so we can get more ping pong balls that likely won't bounce our way. Me and the rest of the set gonna enjoy the ride and believe that the future is here :manny:

You’re missing the point. I responded to your quote that the Hawks “ain’t going out without a fight”. There have been plenty of nights, not just the most recent one, where they haven’t shown up and fought. Coach Pierce has called them out for lack of effort, shyt even Kevin Huerter has. So don’t try to paint a picture that these guys have given it there all all season b/c they haven’t.

And I’m not trying to rain on anybody’s parade. I love my Hawks and always will but this “low key the Hawks might make the playoffs” talk is silly asf

So thats your star? Edwards? Okay I'm gonna chalk that up to you being a UGA homer.

There isnt a star in this draft. That isnt the only way to build a contender. The key part is already done and that was finding Trae.

Also, you can sign for stars or trade for them. Which are both easier to do when u got a guy like Trae who can recruit. Why did KD and kyrie go to BKN, because they were trending upwards and got the 8 seed last year. Why did jimmy butler go to Miami? Same reason as kd and kyrie. Same reason Iggy went to the warriors when they werent that great YET.

That "watching games" comment is for those who look at cam reddish stats for the year and say he's a bum. The ones who "watch" would see the statistical jump he's made every month this season. The squad is trending up even if u want to ignore it. 9-9 in the last 18 games is way better what we looked without Collins or Teague. To bring up 3rd worst record is to ignore the gradual improvement the team has made. The hawks today are not the hawks of November and december

The team has looked better, we have improved. I like seeing that. I told y’all before the season that this was a development year. What I’m seeing is what I wanted to see.

But there are only so many “superstar” level players in the league. It’s easier to draft one then to trade for one or sign one. And even tho Trae is amazing, players aren’t exactly lining up to play for the Hawks or this ownership group. The Hawks in there history have never signed for or traded for a superstar. The Hawks have never been seen as a destination franchise and that’s impacted the level of player willing to come here. That doesn’t change overnight. So we would be better off drafting another star than hoping we can convince one to come play here. And Edwards is seen as the #1 overall prospect in the draft...if you have a chance to draft him you do it with no questions asked. Regardless of who we draft, the Hawks need more star talent and the best way to do that is through the draft

Man look at the last 5 drafts and tell me how many Superstars u see in the top 5. That aint how u build a contender. Look at Philly, all that tanking and this what they have to show for it. We have already drafted better in 2 years than they did in 5 years.

Miss me with that "historically the hawks havent signed anyone" narrative. We have a new owner and the free agency climate is different than in decades past. Teams get their star, then the dialogue starts for recruiting. Trae aint waiting around for us to continuously be picking top 5. If anything, that has a negative effect on free agents because it says we arent helping our star by bringing in guys to help him compete.

We just picked 2 studs in the top 10. They dont consititute as stars? So we draft Edwards and he doesnt average 20 from opening night, I guess that makes him not a star?:mjtf:

Look man, there aint no reason to bottom out. Win as much as we can and let the draft pick fall wherever it needs to. New orleans had a better record than us last year and they jumped over us. The draft aint the end all be all. Free agency, trades and internal growth is whats going to make us contenders

Yes, there have been nights they shyt the bed. Those nights have gotten fewer and further between the healthier/more experienced this team has gotten throughout the season. The first 35-40 games of this season DO NOT COUNT when it comes to evaluating this team and their future. Keeping your fire lit when you're getting blown out is difficult for even the most seasoned vets, but that will come as they keep gaining more pride in their game. What's more important than making a 20 point loss a 10 point loss though, is making a 10 point loss a 5 point win. The heart to do THAT is what makes a championship contender.

and yes, it is silly to think we will make the 'offs. It's even sillier to think we will get the top pick with these new lottery odds and Golden State and New York in the cut :manny:

The Hawks have never been a destination for high profile athletes. New owner, new practice facility, upgraded arena, none of that has mattered. You ignore it like it’s the past but until that changes it’s still matters. My point in mentioning it is that you have to hit on your draft picks especially when they’re lottery picks because assuming that you’ll just go and sign guys or trade for them is unrealistic. As I’ve maintained, you build through the draft. You add in free agency where you can

Im not judging Cam and Hunter until the end of their second season. They aren’t stars yet. I hope they both are but it’s too early to judge what they are. They are both improving and that’s what’s most important but I’m not putting labels on them at this point.

Breh every game counts. Every game is an opportunity to grow. I’m not ignoring anything in this process and you shouldn’t either.
They have improved with consistent effort but my point is that it’s still not at the level needed to consistently challenge for anything more than ending the rest of this season. This year is a learning experience and this roster will be better for it

GS will improve with Curry back. Minny will get worse with KAT getting hurt. NY and CLE will continue to be trash. Do you know how the new lottery odds work? We probably will have a better record than all of those teams and still have a shot at a top 3 pick

@AVXL you too dense to argue with breh. U keep repeating the same nonsense. We built through the fukkin draft already:mindblown:

When edwards doesnt average 10pts next year, you'll just wanna tank again for a "superstar":skip:

This team isn’t a finished product so how the hell can you say we’ve built through the draft? We’re not done building this team. And if I’m too dense to argue with please don’t waste your time or mine. Tired of repeating myself on basic team building principles

Tough ending for this one, Cam back to being ice cold from 3. Hate hunter had to go out because he was cooking and also, I know he had some good peripheral stats the other night but.....

Building THIS team through the draft involves finding pieces that fit with our core, not relying on luck to get the top pick. You're equating building through the draft with drafting the best prospect and that's foolish. Tyrese Haliburton, Deni Avdija, Obi Toppin, and Killian Hayes could all be great complimentary pieces that fill roles around our core, but you'd rather focus on shoehorning the #1 player on the board onto our squad. He ends up here then I'll be fukkin ecstatic but until then let's focus on the development of our core and see what we actually need going forward.

Seem like the concussion boosted Cam driving ability while fukking up his shot lol

Wrong. Anthony Edwards is one of several players that could be a good fit here. I’m interested in the best fit to help build this team. As I keep telling y’all you build through the draft, whoever the best fit for this team is is who you draft. It’s not that difficult.

And who said anything about luck? You may not know this but they’ve changed the draft lottery odds so that you don’t have to have the worst record to get the best draft pick (it happened last year with the Pelicans getting the #1 pick despite not having the worst record). So it’s possible the Hawks could get a top pick even if our record continues to improve down the stretch. Regardless of where we pick, we need to find the right piece who can help this team, that’s all I’m concerned with

:dwillhuh: My nikka, do you not know what luck is? Do I need to copy/paste the Webster dictionary definition of luck for you to understand how a fukkin lottery works?

If your focus was on fit then you wouldn't even be worried about Edwards, as he doesn't particularly compliment our core. He's just good. We have 3 20ppg guys in Trae, John, and eventually Cam. We need shooters/defenders, not straight scorers. Problem is, you don't believe that we have the main guys we need yet so you're more worried about getting another guy than in seeing our core develop. Whoever we draft is gonna be a bench piece so I'd rather give my attention to our starting 4 or 5 of the future who are here right now
