I thought you couldn’t go to Canada with a record eitherAs an American with a record, you can basically go anywhere on earth not named North Korea, Iran, or Venezuela. Even countries with a visa on arrival won't do any due diligence on your background with a US passport.
The true difficulty is moving there long-term with a record. It's doable, but would require a decent amount of bribery. Tbh, for the right price you could buy a whole citizenship in an African country if you know the right folks.
In fact what I love most about the continent is that this level of leniency with the laws is available to anybody with a little cash; whereas, in America you basically gotta be a billionaire or a mob boss to get the same leeway.
