So let me guess, you now think Democrats give a shyt about black folk because of Obama? Ive seen democrats craft specific policies for latinos, Ive seen democrats craft specific policies for gays, ive seen democrats craft specific policies for the rich (bank bailouts), but tell me friend, what specific policies have democrats crafted for black people the last 30 years? The war on drugs? Subprime mortgage lending? WIC?

No, I'm saying they feel we can help them get elected, so as of right now they are more likely to promote black people friendly policy. And that is likely to make republicans move away from anti-black folks policy. Politicians don't care about white folks either, they only care about whoever they think will vote for them.

well you can do whatever the hell you want, and whatever you think is in your interest but you asked me a question and i answered it

i dont co-sign the democratic party or their agenda as a means to increase the political and economic power of black people

How do we increase political and economic power?

the fundamental thing black face is an anti academic culture, so until we deal with culture we aint going anywhere

but as far as voting and political power black people have to start splitting their votes and expanding beyond "progressive" politics

How does voting for a party who acts directly against our interests work in our favor :leostare:

what party is this that you are referring to that is working against our interests?

but thats neither here nor there, our interests is that black people vote for whoever the hell they want to

This party

thats the whole point of the article i posted, doing whatever you want

If that's the case, why did you insist that

black people have to start splitting their votes and expanding beyond "progressive" politics

IOW black people can do whatever they want politically... as long is its splitting their votes and expanding beyond progressive politics

Right?

I agree that our blind allegiance to the Democrats is counterproductive, but I also think that black people jumping into the arms of the GOP w/o making them answer for decades of racist rhetoric + policy which still continues today is even goofier, and only a special corporate anti-black culture groupie such as yourself would cosign such tomfoolery

well like i said during the thread, the fact that republicans are racist is simply a data point, and the strategy of simply avoiding racist people and going to join the "good white folk" isnt the only strategy to increase black political and economic power

If that's the case, why did you insist that

because neither me nor the article i posted is advocating for any particular party, im just advocating for intellectual freedom, so im just repeating the point of the thread after he posted the pro democratic spiel

IOW black people can do whatever they want politically... as long is its splitting their votes and expanding beyond progressive politics

Right?

is it just me or do you sound bitter?

did you read the article or just the title of the thread? what part of the article is it that you have a problem with?

First off the anti-academic culture you speak of is not black culture. With more of us educated now than ever and that number still growing, you can't say it's part of black culture to be anti-academic. Poor people of all races subscribe to those ideas, due to a lack of hope and understanding on how the system works.

And you have yet to explain how splitting our vote up will give us more power.

Right now more than ever "black people issues" are synonymous with middle-lower class issues. Things like education, help with the housing crisis, unions, skilled labor, healthcare, unemployment, small business loans, veterans issues, and the list goes on. These are the types of things that are affecting black people's lives everyday. And these are the things that democrats are more likely to work on than republicans. No there is no set in stone "black agenda" but there are plenty of issues that affect us and that we should care about collectively.

I answered your questions, you didn't ask me about poor people you asked me about black people, if you want to have a conversation about poverty in general we can have that, but you asked me about black people

And I'm not sure how I haven't answered your questions, black people would increase their political power by splitting their votes becuase in close elections votes that are up for grab get more attention, votes that are already set get less attention, what is so hard to understand about that
