I'm sorry but has there actually been a worse president than Trump?

All of this is true, George W/Cheney did all of that, but did they ever launch an attack on US citizens?
Yes.

But there’s an even harsher truth, one some New Orleans residents learned in the very first days but which is only beginning to become clear to the rest of us: What took place in this devastated American city was no less than a war, in which victims whose only crimes were poverty and blackness were treated as enemies of the state.

It started immediately after the storm and flood hit, when civilian aid was scarce—but private security forces already had boots on the ground. Some, like Blackwater (which has since redubbed itself Xe), were under federal contract, while a host of others answered to wealthy residents and businessmen who had departed well before Katrina and needed help protecting their property from the suffering masses left behind. According Jeremy Scahill’s reporting in The Nation, Blackwater set up an HQ in downtown New Orleans. Armed as they would be in Iraq, with automatic rifles, guns strapped to legs, and pockets overflowing with ammo, Blackwater contractors drove around in SUVs and unmarked cars with no license plates.

“When asked what authority they were operating under,” Scahill reported, “one guy said, ‘We’re on contract with the Department of Homeland Security.’ Then, pointing to one of his comrades, he said, ‘He was even deputized by the governor of the state of Louisiana. We can make arrests and use lethal force if we deem it necessary.’ The man then held up the gold Louisiana law enforcement badge he wore around his neck.”

The Blackwater operators described their mission in New Orleans as “securing neighborhoods,” as if they were talking about Sadr City. When National Guard troops descended on the city, the Army Times described their role as fighting “the insurgency in the city.” Brigadier Gen. Gary Jones, who commanded the Louisiana National Guard’s Joint Task Force, told the paper, “This place is going to look like Little Somalia. We’re going to go out and take this city back. This will be a combat operation to get this city under control.”

Bush = Worse in terms of Foreign Policy
Trump = Worse domestically

Katrina was bad but it doesn't hold a candle to Coronavirus. And Bush wasn't sitting around encouraging white supremacists like Trump does...the long term impact on that shouldn't be understated.
The long term impact of things like the patriot act and ignoring habeas corpus also shouldn't be understated. :manny: Ignoring the countless crimes George W. Bush's presidency laid a lot of the foundation for Trump doing things like like having employees of DHS going to Portland and kidnapping people.

Don't think no one sees what you're doing there. :laff:

Justify Clinton's shytty policy cause the republicans are so bad, and then exaggerate how bad the Republicans are by equating them all to Trump. :stopitslime:

By 2024 you Democratic Establishment shills are going to be trying to convince us to vote for Mitt fukking Romney, "Sure, he has some conservative views but look at how bad the enemy is! We have to toss this bone to the wealthy just to compete! :damn:"

The past 4 years have been a nightmare but bad decisions in a presidency impacts the nation for decades, even centuries. We're still dealing with the aftermath of decisions Andrew Johnson made 150+ years ago. The population permanently lost trust in the government after Nixon. We're still directly tied up with conflicts, laws, judges, budgets, deficits from the Reagan era. It's been 20 years since W. was elected and we're still in the wars he started 18 and years ago. We're still fighting the war on terror. We're still fighting the war on drugs. The shyt that Trump is doing now is going to have long, long lasting effects on America both domestically and internationally. Even once he's out, be it in a couple of months or god forbid another 4 years, America is going to take DECADES to recover from the destruction of international relationships, the hollowing out of the state department, the mistrust from the public in the media, the mistrust in the public of the government, filling the courts up and down the line with right wing nutjobs and political hacks, destroying the reputation of the intelligence apparatus, allowing and inviting other nations to interfere in our elections, outright encouraging citizens to commit felonies by committing voting fraud to justify his repeated claims of voter fraud, the extreme polarization of the public that isn't going to go away probably ever, emboldening and acceptance of outright racists and white supremacists, the emboldening and acceptance of wild ass conspiracy theories, the slow destruction of Obamacare even during a pandemic, the attempts to effectively end Medicare and SSI by temporarily cutting the tax that funds them and wanting to make it permanent, the rollback of 40-50 years of environmental and safety regulations, refusing to denounce extrajudicial killings, calling for armed resurrection against Democratic governors who were following his own CDC's guidelines, opening up the floodgates for federal agents to just beat the shyt out of/gas/shoot the public and even for a while having literally goon squads without markings kidnapping people off the streets, the completely politicization and destruction of the justice department, complete and blatant lawlessness and grifting at an unseen level. His lawyer's defense at the impeachment trial was "Of course he did this and a bunch of other shyt oh well it's okay he's the president" and it worked because of how completely broken our system is.

Not to mention the lifetime of effects that impacts the families, friends, co-workers, and communities when 200,000 and counting people have died from a disease that he intentionally downplayed, intentionally gave bad advice, intentionally made the public distrust the medical experts, intentionally sidelined the medical experts so they couldn't give out the correct information, intentionally pushed unproven and ultimately unsafe miracle solutions, intentionally scraped the playbook left for him on how to handle a pandemic because of his hatred for Obama and then blamed Obama for not leaving him tests for a virus that didn't exist until 3 years into Trump's run, intentionally encouraged people to not wear masks because he didn't like how he looked in one even though he knew that was the easiest defense, intentionally makes his rallies not follow his own government's guidelines for distancing and mask wearing, intentionally declined to actually enact the defense production act when the country was in desperate need of PPE and ventilators instead insisting the market would handle it with just the threat (Spoilers: there's still PPE shortages and American tax payers have paid 3x the amount for ventilators that have mostly been sold off to other countries and we'll be short again should there be another spike that needs them because Art of the Deal baby), intentionally encouraged companies and FEMA to not sell or give equipment to states and cities run by Democrats, intentionally stayed hands off and refused to do shyt and let the governors handle it then blamed them for not being able to get supplies or shutting down when at one point the federal government was outbidding states for PPE and ventilators and then hoarding it and refusing to release it to states because it was for the federal government, not states.

A lot of folks are drinking the Trump Cool Aid in here to the point I'm actually surprised...

:patrice:
The most egregious military action he did was in smoking Soleimani. He's just annoyed everyone else.

Its almost like the world has put a lot of things on pause to get Trump out of office because they see America as just going through something momentary.

If we're honest, tangibly speaking and policy wise Trump is the greatest president in modern history. . . I know, y'all hate the truth.

Hey can anybody in this thread name any diplomatic accomplishments trump has had?

So far his neglinence has gotten 200,000 Americans dead. 30 million jobs lost. Trillions in stock market value wiped out. All post recession gains gone. The lowest GDP in modern history. Negative job growth.

At this point if you're a trump supporter all you have is racism and white supremacy to run on.

And that's why trump is the worst president modern history hes taking this country to blatant fascist places.

I think the only things anyone can really point to are: Moving the embassy to Jerusalem/recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the recent opening of relationships between Israel and a couple of Arab nations, but the reason behind those are all in service of securing the crazy evangelist voter bloc that already belonged to him and Kushner no doubt setting up backdoor deals to enrich himself.
