I'm sorry but has there actually been a worse president than Trump?

I still have him below James Buchanan. Just.

As far as treasonous acts go, buying the presidency in exchange for condemning black people to 80 years of lynchings and desolation ranks worse than anything Trump has done... But the fact that Trump is pulling this off in the modern age... You have to try to be this bad

I feel like this coup attempt probably makes him the WOAT.

I'll do further research of course into people like Buchanan of course

Buchanan was an open supporter of slavery, let southern states leave the Union and confiscate federal arms/property. Forced the SC to write a broad opinion on Dred Scott. For all his faults, Andrew Jackson quashed an earlier attempt at secession by SC. Buchanan did not, leaving a mess for Lincoln to clean up.

Buchanan literally almost ended America. Like, LITERALLY. Its tough to top that.

:scust:But damnit if Orangutan aint WOAT, hes gotta be 1.b atleast. Just a complete and total disgrace till the very end.

No.

And it's real simple as to why - because he's effectively an enemy sleeper agent who was hired to decay if not destroy us.

After yesterday's events, it's clear that if he had a second term we would have had a full scale hot 2nd Civil War. We may get one anyway. :stopitslime:

Think about the presidents we discuss as being the "worst" and the things that disgraced them in the eyes of history. Bush, Nixon, Harding, Grant, Hoover, Andrew Johnson, Buchanan, and so forth.

What makes Trump unique - what makes him THE worst - is that he shares in the failings of ALL of them. He's the Captain Planet of political incompetence, negligence, and corruption. On top of that, he has singular failures of his own. His mismanagement of COVID and his rejection of a peaceful transfer of power perhaps being the most noteworthy.

So yeah I would consider him the worst, although I wouldn't be mad at someone making an argument for James Buchanan :ehh:

I mean really, as President you have a few major duties:

- Protect the American public as best as possible (400K+ dead from COVID)
- Don't give enemies safe harbor (Russia has repeatedly interfered/attacked with no response and even support)
- Transfer power peacefully in order to keep peace in the republic (incited a riot on Capitol based on false pretenses)
- Uphold the Constitution and faithful execution of law (repeatedly wiped his ass with it)

He failed at all of them. He's the only president not fulfill at least one. WOAT.
I forgot to add that just a few days ago he tried to coerce state leadership to change their voting results ON TAPE. A literal rejection of the will of the American people. That’s never been done before.

This will become the evolving legacy label of Trump once he leaves and everything leaks out. He should be hanged for treason

What other President was responsible for 200,000 Americans dying on their watch? I think it is case closed.
To think you said that just 4 months ago and it's 400,000+ now, easily going to surpass 500,000.

(official count is 370,000 right now but the excess death #'s show there's about 20-30% more Covid deaths that aren't getting counted. So the true number is likely around 450,000 already. fukk, might hit 600,000.)

Okay, I'm all for Trump being unprecedented but this one has actually happened before.

In 1876, Samuel Tilden of the Democratic Party won the popular vote over Rutherford Hayes of the Republican Party, 51% to 48%. He also won the electoral vote, 203 to 166, but 19 of Tilden's electoral votes were disputed due to fraud/voter intimidation in those states and 1 of Hayes's votes had been taken away by the governor of that state.

There was a huge fight over it in Congress, and in the end they did the "Compromise of 1877", where all 20 disputed electoral votes went to Hayes, giving him a 185-184 electoral victory, in exchange for federal troops being pulled out of the South and Reconstruction ending. That's when all the blatant oppression got reignited

Basically, the Republicans sold out Black folk in the South for the sake of a single presidential term. And Southern Democrats were willing to give up a presidential term in exchange for getting the feds out of their hair and being able to freely oppress Black folk again.

After yesterday, Trump is moved to bottom 5. Possibly bottom 3. Encouraging an armed insurrection, for me, is still not as bad as the southern presidents who fukked black people after the Civil War.
Its relative. Trump wouldn’t be allowed to do something similar today. But put him in that situation in pre-Civil War and there’s no doubt in my mind he would’ve been even more incendiary.
