I'm sorry bruh. I can't trust class-first marxists, even black ones. This is insane.

These people are LITERALLY denying white supremacy as just a variant form of capitalism :dahell:

Why do they have to have convoluted reasons for saying slavery was merely capitalist exploitation and NOT the fact that when implemented that white supremacy also drove this shyt as a variant form of blood purity and religious evangelism.

Yeah, everyone wants profit and to make money... but this shyt is insultingly reductive.

Why aren't white voters ever seen as active agents in their own decisions to join with black labor? Why do these dudes have to go through so much bullshyt to give white people an escape hatch to avoid addressing why they vote against their interests? What are they voting for then?

This focus on capitalist exploitation from marxists is incredibly insulting

It might be.

Without the desire for cheap labor, would the colonists have come up with their system of slavery?

This is why issues don't get addressed and I think it's intentional so people can sell books, make podcasts, get paid at speaking engagements etc. :francis: Yes slavery's main component was capitalism. However, people ignore around that time popular scientists published papers stating things like blacks were similar to apes and had smaller brains. People also ignore events like human zoos where blacks were on displays like animals. Look up the history of the Bronx zoo. Overall I'm saying both capitalism and racism played roles. It was one or the other. Saying it's one or the other dismisses the issue as is. I get tired to people twisting or ignored facts so they can get paid. :hhh:

Prior to slavery indenture servitude was a popular practice. I think there is few that talk about people being forced to sign contracts to do labor for a certain amount of time. Slavery like capitalism just made the process easier and cost efficient.

this.

that said, i don’t understand the tendency to take marx as gospel, and rarely, if ever, deviating from that framework. It’s not like marx himself was ever that consistent, and in fact, he reconsidered his way of thinking when max stirner delivered a lengthy repudiation of Marx’s early ideas.

Marx’s dialectics allow us to look at the whole and formulate theories within the context of the time. Class reductionism is of no use in a postmodern era. The world does not work like that anymore. When you consider the sheer scope of reality, it becomes increasingly difficult to ascertain any universal truths. I believe it’s time we look past marx and build upon the foundation laid down in the past two centuries.

Nikka eat a Dikk

Edit:

Mybad this is HL and not TLR so I can't just say that and keep it moving apparently

White people ARE NOT supreme and capitalism is a cancer to humanity
there was just as much of a reason for religions indoctrination from everything of blood libel of the jews to anti-moorish backlash in the Iberian peninsula ...and NO ONE mentions this as a foundation for modern racism.

Capitalism is not the foundation of all of this and its insulting to keep just trying to "we are united" this away.

I'm sorry fam...this is just out of pocket and its incorrect.

Marx himself was racist against black people, even if he was against literal slavery. A lot of them hated black people. Hell, he was anti-jewish!

This is what these class reductionists lose me at.

They want to decry one form of reductionism while hammering another form.

Its like if they can't center white perspectives on this, then they have to invalidate everything else that might have happened around the world.

They don't know how to handle black socialists who disagreed with white socialists in the early 20th century for exposing their double dealings with white supremacy.

This shyt is just blowing my mind.

Really…are we going to act like white Europeans didn’t hold themselves as superior to Africans the moment they stepped foot on the continent, long before the salve trade began? Plenty of writings about Africans being savages or uncivilized from jump, before the real exploitation even got started

ETA: slavery may have been capitalistic, but where they got the labor and how they viewed slaves was based on white supremacist thinking. They didn’t treat indentured servant white folks this way at all, even gave them a (rigged) way out, black folks, they rigged your way in - everyone born to a slave woman was a slave
