Barton has been replaced damn near. SHIELD is obsolete. The Guardians of the Galaxy is about to be over.They even reset Peter Parker in the MCU. The “new” avengers would just be a carbon copy of the original. And that’s something you can’t recapture.
When the first Avengers dropped, there were only 3 enhanced beings on earth. Now you got skrulls and soon to be mutants in addition to other enhanced beings like photon, spider man and others.
It’s a new era, but like the thread title implies

there will still be "events" in the MCU, just not "The Avengers". I don't know why people are so caught up on the semantics. And they are clearly branching out into different themes.
