I'm not really understanding the players' stance on player safety & these lawsuits

How do you collect a millionaire's paycheck yearly, but then stand in line to file lawsuits about your safety when you knew DAMN WELL everything involved in the profession you signed up for?
Most of dudes weren't millionaires and, I'm sure, none of them are millionaires, now.
If I were the NFL, i'd make these niqqas sign a waiver saying they aren't liable for any health related head issues that come with playing this sport.

I'm surprise they don't already do that

The first time I knocked myself out tackling someone I was 13 years old and no one noticed because they were busy celebrating the hit. At 13, I knew the sport was dangerous so from that point forward I 1. Stopped tackling with my fukking head 2. Every year weighed the pros and cons....After I got my degree I was done. At 22, I had constant headaches, my hands were shaking, a specialist told me I had the back of a 45 year old. I didn't blame anyone cause I knew at 13 the cost of it all.

Welcome to the new America. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions anymore
All that from 13 to 22?

I had so much anger towards my dad, for not lettin' me play football. And more and more, I've found reasons to thank him.

How can the NFL had withheld information they did not know about yet? We are just now starting to learn the effects concussions can have on the brain through recent research. Back in the 70's, if you saw stars the culture was to walk it off. Everyone just assumed that it was a stinger and you'd recover just fine.

To be honest, I don't think the players will get very far with these lawsuits.

The lawyers have already shown proof that the NFL knew about these long term effects from studies, and they didnt relay that information to the players until later on.

Whats crazy is, the NFL didnt have to hide anything. They could tell the players right now that playing football is likely to cut 10 years off their lives and these dudes wouldnt change a thing. Playing in the NFL is the ultimate dream for 99.9% of them and there are a gang of players not in the legue right now, who know all the risks, and would still body their Moms to get in the league.

I've healed. I also had fun. I LOVED that sport and still do. My pops is trying to get my younger brother who's a sophomore in high school into it (he's 6' 5" 282 lbs as of yesterday), but I always tell my dad that sport ain't for everyone. Everyone you see on the football field is a functional fukking lunatic especially when you get past high school.

95% of the players in the NFL are in the 1%

Very true

But, after watching Broke and readin' enough articles; one, them dudes don't have a million on 'em, two, the rest (most) are living check to check

They maybe exgrarting , but;

ESPN documentary looks at athletes going broke

A 2009 Sports Illustrated article claims that 78% of NFL players are broke after three years of retirement and 60% of NBA players go bust after five years.

That's a lot. I'm just responding to the notion these guys are greedy. They may not be able to afford enough medical care or can't hold down a good enough job, to support their lifestyle and, to quote Broke, lookin' for that next "hit."

It was fukked up for the league to lie about the shyt...flat out that was fukked up and there is no defense of that shyt. However any logical person can put two and two together and reason that football is not a game that is beneficial to long term health. It's almost as bad as the people suing the cigarette companies.

"What you mean to tell me that inhaling a bunch of burning chemicals can cause health problems?" :ohhh: :heh:

The bottom line is that people have to take responsibility for their own choices and actions. Seriously how many of those nikkas wouldn't have played or woulda played differently if the league was up front? :stopitslime: nikkas still out there tryna kill each other with new info droppin every day. If it wasn't for the rule changes nikkas would still be playing the same way.

All I know is Junior Seau was never diagnosed with having a concussion in his career yet ended up with CTE.

You can accept that you would have injuries and such, but its something different to have doctors lie about it.

Lets be honest, some of the shyt that went on back then was fukking horrible, players had next to no power. Medical teams were fukking tragic, sending players out there, when, they were clearly injured.

And shyt, players couldn't stand up, if they did, they'll get cut and pretty much blackballed.

I can't believe so many people in here are missing the point. It's like if you were working in a factory making a salary that allows you to provide for your family in a way that was otherwise impossible. Now the owners have proof that the workers in that factory are 50% more likely to develop cancer. Given that information some workers may say they don't care and still want the job as is, but that doesn't mean the owners would be right in withholding that information.

Any company that withheld that type of info from their workers or even the general public would be sued to hell but yall in here acting like it was cool for the NFL to do it.

The only equal thing is that there was a concealing of evidence, people in factories don't go into work thinking they will come out with substantial harm to their well being. Most of these players understood the physical drawbacks by the time they were in their teen's.

Coal workers didn't know breathing in ash was bad for them?
