No one here mentioned Reagan though. Before Trump, Bush was the idiot of presidents. I really don't care about his acting skills when he went out of his way to not give a fukk when it came to policy.

fukk Bush dude. Its not just Katrina - which is a debacle because the entire federal government wanted to act like they've never encountered a hurricane before. That region will never return to how it was before. Dude took one of the biggest surpluses in history and turned it into a recession. No Child Left Behind did exactly what it promised not to. And we're STILL in Iraq. There are kids who are going to fight in a warzone that is older than they are. Gitmo. Warrantless surveillance. Bailouts. Etc.

Right now we've got this coronavirus shyt, but the whole world is eating that one. Its not an exclusively American problem or one created by wholly by America either.

If you line them up, point for point against each other its not close at all.

Trump would have to put in overtime. shyt, Bush was popping Trump-rhetoric live at the Olympics :dead:

edit: Bush's lowest approval rating was TEN points lower than Trump at its worst :mjlol: people really forgot
Bush's presidency literally changed the course of world history

cause bush is more “respectable” (meaning polite) than trump. americans also want to look back on old presidents fondly because they worship their political leaders as heroes. so they try to rehabilitate these extremely dangerous and incompetent presidents images once they are out of office and we aren’t constantly being reminded of their selfishness and stupidity

What I find fascinating is after 9/11 Bush's approval went up to 90% if I recall correctly. And then by the end of his 2nd term the numbers were down to 20% I think.

Which is insane to think about today because things have somehow got so "us versus them" that Trump sits at a steady 40% despite how retarded he is and despite what should be a major bump from the corona virus

Because despite being a terrible president, he seems like a decent person on a personal level, and conducts himself with class and professionalism.

bushs second term was really bad in general. republicans were also pissed at him because of his fukk ups in social security reform, the harriet miers nomination, the beating they took in 06 midterms, countless GOP corruption scandals and a war in Iraq that seemed never-ending. which explains why conservatives would have unfavorable views of bush.

some of that is still true of the GOP today like the scandals and continuous military involvement in the middle east but its become normalized. trump is also a lot more openly racist which is the most important thing to them

With bush as shytty and dumb as he was its still majority agreed he's a politician. Even if he riding the coat tails of his daddy he still looks the part of somebody in office. Since day 1 its clear Trump is not a politician at all and really had no business running for president let alone winning the shyt. It's been considered a farce since day 1 and only won from americans being sick of the establishment and wanting something new for the hell of it. That and racist loving the open racism.

The Bush was an (innocent) idiot that did not know what he was doing is a bullshyt narrative created by the Bush administration. When Bush went to Irak, he knew what he was doing.

Bush being an experienced politician is not a reason to look at his term positively, unless you agreed with his policies. In the end of the day, the only thing that really matter are the good and the bad action of each administration.

Guantanamo, Irak, Katrina, etc. That's Bush. I don't see how it's better than Trump tbh. If you like Bush back then, Ok you might like him more because of Trump. But if you did not like Bish back then, I don't understand how Trump is gonna make you look at Bush era positively.

Bush was trashed for the way he and his people handled Katrina. Do you look at the way Katrina was handled more positively because of the way Trump is handling the Rona crisis?

The only thing I'll admit is that he had a better sense of decorum than Trump. But decorum is not that important. I see people fawning over Bush because he gave Michelle candy. C'mon.

Excellent comment, is Trump more crass and offensive than Bush? No doubt but I cannot fathom how any recent president can top the invasion of Iraq. The ramifications of that war will be felt for the rest of this century.

Trump is a terrible president, no need to whitewash Bush to illustrate that point.
