I don’t get what you are trying to get at here. He is a Doctor. Same way DPTs are doctors or Podiatrist are doctors. They are all physicians at the end of the day. He went fours years of undergrad and took four more years in a Chiro school so in the end he is a doctor. He has a doctorate degree that is recognized in all 50 states and by insurance companies.

Although I didn’t want to shyt on buddy, Nicole is actually right. If a Chiropractor and a Physical Therapist were in a hospital setting, they cannot be addressed as “Doctor” because it causes confusion with the actual MDs especially when you are around patients.

Just because you have an actual doctorate degree, does not give you license to use the title “Doctor”. It’s not even appropriate in academic settings. Individuals that have PhDs should be referred to as Professor instead of “Doctor” in the academic setting and nothing at all outside of academics.

You even have nurses that have PhDs in Nursing. They cannot be referred to as “Doctor” in a medical setting when actual MDs are around. It’s confusing to patients and those with MDs take precedence.

I mean congrats on having a successful career but a chiropractor is not a "doctor" as we know it. You don't even have to have a bachelor's degree to enter chiropractic school. That alone tells you the academic heft isnt there enough to consider you a doctor. I mean the average salary tells on you too. A general practitioner doctor average pay in the US is 189k. For a chiropractor is 66k:skip:. I just have a MBA and I make double your industry's average salary and that's before annual bonus. Your title is a bit misleading, sir.

I’m going to stop you there, you actually need a bachelors for the program, back in the day you didn’t but that was very long ago, and to keep it a thou-wow, said ug degrees won’t prepare you for any professional finishing school

And that avg pay is misleading as well, like i said it’s all relative, but what does pay have to do with being a doctor

When i graduated and applied for my liscense after taking 5 National boards, i am recognized as a liscensed doctor, and every insurance or health care entity recognizes me as such, and in accordance to the law, i have level 3 or 4 privileges, (i forget now which level, it’s been a minute since reading it) which means i am a general practitioner that means you don’t need a referral to see me, that means i can refer patients to other doctors as well, and again depending on the state, i can examine and asses the eye, the nose and ear, i can give a Pap Smear/gynecological exam, i can give a proctological exam, i can administer some medication, perform minor surgery, deliver babies, all things your gp/pcp can do, with the exception that instead of busting out a script to handle illness, i use chiropractic

I said what I'm going to say about it.. Not continuing with this. I'm not going to a chiropractor for pregnancy, or a gyno exam; I'm going directly to an OB/GYN for that.. and I'm not taking my kid to a chiropractor, when there's Pediatricians for that. See what I mean? I'm not going to you for surgery.. when there are actual Surgeons that specialize in that. What you say is not lining up for me.

I’m going to stop you there, i was literally in a hospital setting in Chicago and i was Still Doctor “sherminator”

I had two friends in the Cleveland clinic, they had Doctor on their door, on their badges, and business cards, and all forms referred to them as such, don’t spread that, that’s not true

No. They're not, that's what you fail to comprehend. He is not a physician.

A chiropractic degree (DC) is not comparable to a medical degree (MD).
According to Medicare and the insurance companies Chiropractors are listed as PCP. Primary Care Physicians. In many states they can administer vaccination, minor surgery, can do Pap smears,do physicals etc.

You missed my point, i said just like your pcp/gp i can, but just like your pcp ain’t finna dig in your p*ssy to make sure you ain’t having issues, neither am i, you would just go see your gyno, by your argument your pcp isn’t a Doctor because he’s not the one doing your surgeries or delivering your child, but much like he can, i can, we both won’t we will refer you, there are pediatric chiropractors, but if there are more issues, they will refer, and again like your pcp i can see children, but i would again refer out

I mean I hear you but I actually come from a medical family. My grandfather was a pathologist with the University of Chicago, two uncles that are physicians at Northwestern and my girlfriend a radiologist at Rush.

The policy, according to them, is that they will not allow individuals that do not have MDs to be referred to as Doctor on the floor because it causes confusion with the patients. And they said you can forgot about any nurse who thinks that they should be referred to as Doctor because of a PHD.

I don’t know what hospital you were at. My uncles currently are at Northwestern and girlfriend is at Rush.

I was at rose land but that was dealing with Mva patients

My boys were at the Cleveland clinic dealing with pi wk and something else, like i said we all were referred to as doctor

Do chiropractors have to do residency? How long and what's the median pay, $35K?

It’s built into the program, pay depends on a few factors man

Maybe so. I think it’s still a big debate about the MD vs PhD and who has the right to use the actual honorific of “Doctor”.

From what I’ve seen MDs are saying no and all other PhD holders are saying yes. It’s not conclusive. So I will defer to you Dr. Sheminator.

Edit: Just spoke with my brother that’s a DPT at Vandy and was told they are allowed to be referred to as Doctor around Physicians.

But at high pedigree hospitals that are associated with top med schools it appears that the rules are a bit different and reserved solely for MDs and DO or whatever.

What program? You go thru the match process too? Resident pay is bullshyt, I'm familiar with the factors.

I went to Life university

And it’s built into the curriculum

Student clinic
Outpatient clinic
Working side by side with a liscensed chiropractor seeing patients at their office

Pay.... shiiiiid we payed for those classes and had to live off our loans
