I go to see a patient some years ago. Man and wife are in the room happy to inform me that they are both doctors.
Both are black so I get excited to see more of us at that level. I'm like cool, what do you guys practice?
" I'm a doctor of education and my wife is a doctor of social work."
Still black excellence and I enthusiatically tell them that's great, but....
Inside I'm like GTFOOHWTBS!
You know you ain't no fukking doctors!

PS. OP almost EVERYBODY thinks like me. Stop being deceitful.

Have you thought of opening up your own practice?

What led you into the field?

Favorite and least favorite city out the ones you lived in and why?

i am professional as an MD for going on 10 yrs now (3 of which were residency), and i explained quite thoroughly if you read my posts. the whole being considered a "doctor" or "PCP" by insurance companies is more of an on paper/technical thing for reimbursement purposes and clearly not in the traditional sense one would think of when someone talks about going to see their doctor. NO ONE WOULD EVER HAVE A CHIROPRACTOR AS THEIR PCP or regularly have them order lab/imaging tests or prescribe meds. it's disingenuous nonsense/misrepresentation and too broad to really tell the full story of the significant differences between him and an MD/DO traditional doctor. He should've said that he was a chiropractor and not used the term doctor in his thread title. He purposely tried to slip that in casually and people rightly called him out on it.
I stand corrected, if you are really an MD. I only made it through half the thread so I may not have seen your posts. I stopped once it turned mostly into people just hating. Although I’m still not convinced and it still just sounds like a difference in what we recognize socially as a doctor and what is professionally considered a doctor, I’m not going to force you to go into detail on a message board.

Let's put this this thread to rest,

The term doctor is not solely owned by Physicians.

A Doctorate is a terminal degree that you earn when you have attained the highest level of education in a given field.

PhD, EdD, Dds, etc........

Physician = Physician

The OP never claimed to be a physician......

Ummm in this situation it is solely owned. When they call for a doctor on board a plane they are not talking about PhD in Agriculture

i've mentioned stuff about medicine/being a doctor (an MD since apparently we need to be specific) on here plenty, alot of people have seen me post. i have no incentive to BS. it's much more than just a social construct; delineating between an MD/DO and non-med school "doctors" is incredibly important professionally.
