Language learning hacks. There's a ton of social media devoted to learning english In fact it's low key a scam for a foriegner to pay to be taught english because there's a ton of free resources out there.

Then there's the language transfers that happen in Hostels whether you're staying there or not. I was hanging out at this Hostel with this brooklynite and over a card game homie just started chopping it up in French with the French girls Homie spoke perfect Spanish too shows what can be done if you're determined.

@Wiseborn flights into the dr whether it be STI or POP are shyt in terms of expense! But I noticed flying into Monday - Thursday it's cheap, would you recommend this? How would an area like Sosua be on the weekday? Less weekend ballers I have to deal with but also less women, less attractive women too lol

Yes to all of that going before thursday on non federal holidays will be slow.

On Pedro Clisante Puerta Plata especially on the Malecon and centro will be live.

Its one of those situations where you have to take the L abd learn the language and culture and network with vets and expats because you can fight the crowds at the casino chasing entited 6's on a Saturday night or open your eyes and find out where the girls hang out.

Its quite possible that you have even seen a girl who lives in Sosua or Puerta Plata yet 90 of the hoes are from Santo Domingo or Santiago

You could aslo go to lovera in Santiago or paris club in SD and meet a higher caliber of chick way better than the hoes at Bailees on a Saturday Afternoon

Tips for going to Medellin:

Tip #1. Dont go during Christmas everyone dips out to whatever town they're from for the hoildays It's the same during Santa Semana (Holy week) easter.

Keep in mind that Catholics consider Christmas to extend until the Three Kings Day.

Anyway I talked to some veteran travelers and expats and they said the main reason people get scoped is because they stay in buildings with no Doorman or if there's a doorman it's a high volume place where anyone can walk right in.

Even dealing with what you think is "regular girls" You need to get a front and back copy of her cedula (ID) and she needs to check in and out with a doorman. If you tell a chick that a DoorMan has to let her in and out and he has to get the OK from you if she comes to see you chances are nothing will go wrong.

Other than that ask around if anyone knows her and tell people that you have a chick coming through.

Medellin is still not my cup of tea but if you move correctly you should be fine. A lot of fukkery could be aviodeed if you just didn't stay or hang out in Probaldo and LLeras/ Provenza.

Laureles especially near the parks or the stadium is cheaper, tourists are targeted way less and it's walkable. If you stay in the Laureles area you technically wouldn't need a car.

What type of work is out there for expats and is that the only place you lived at outside of America
I lived in several countries and I plan to go back to Kenya.

The jobs that expats get too numerous to mention, but I wouldn't advise comming then depending on looking for a job down here you need plenty of disposible passive income to be successful here. Things are dirt cheap but more expensive for an expat but I do know guys paying sub 200 rents here.

if people just want to fukk idk why they just don't go to Cartagena for that, way safer. Cali, Bogota and Medellin are cool but I feel most people get got because they think it's just an open air market like Sosua or Cartagena.

Well to be sure Scopamine is all over Colombia there's less of it in cities other than Medellin but there's not zero.

The reason that they go Medellin is that it's not as hot or expensive as Cartegena and less beggars. But as you said it's not just p*ssy their seeking in places like Medellin they're seeking validation. The Open air fish markets of Sosua, Cartegena, Thailand and the Phillipines only exists there. in most places there's streetwalkers but in certain cities in those countries you can get dimes walking the streets and you can pretend that she likes you for you.

If a dude was honest with themselves they could go to a protected brothel and be totally fine there's brothels where you can take the chick back to your place if you wanted her that bad.

And by engineer I mean electrical, dudes who have experience and degrees on energy systems, renewables, aerospace, environmental and things of that nature

Any legit Stem degree is gold in the 3rd world. An electrical engineer with experience and US credentials would be hired on the spot.

But they will usually pay at the local rate. Surgeons in the DR make a starting base salary of 1400 USD a month. Oil engineers in Colombia get 1100 a month.

You can make somwhere near american money if you work or contract with multinational companies, but to do any of this you have to be a resident of the country first.

Can co-sign this post. I was in Medellin recently having women come directly to my spot and I had a doorman who did exactly as you stated...no issues whatsoever. I still didn't have anything to drink or eat around them as an extra precaution.

I'll also cosign Laureles as a nice spot to stay. I was there for a month and at no point did I ever feel unsafe, especially during the day. Bonus points if you stay near a train station, you don't even need to Uber out there.

Question for you breh: I plan on getting my Spanish up to par and would like to make either Colombia or DR my "base" this year for that. What would be your recommendation between the two? Feel free to throw another place in if you want.
