Would you say that Santo Domingo (as a whole) is more dangerous than Sosua? More dangerous than Santiago? Why or why not?
Yes big cities are always more dangerous. Sosua is a small as beach town, If the tourists weren't there the town wouldn't be there. The Su is also well policed with the Police station right off the main strip.

That being said some tourists were recently robbed by a Cop from Santiago so there's that. Hold your head.

In my opinion, even though you are asking the other bro.. Yes...because you can’t roam around freely as a gringo in major cities...in sosua, they have police there to “protect” tourists...even tho the police may shake you down for a 1000 pesos lol if you do something stupid...

In major cities, I traveled via Uber at night. During the day I was walking around blue mall and restaurants in colonial zone (touristy area)...

damn I can’t wait to get outta ny
Obviously you can get it anywhere but I never felt unsafe in SD and I routinely took public taxis to Duarte (the main market area in the sketchy part of town) then walked to El Conde from there. Probably not really smart but you pass by the Presidental Palace which is the most secure area of the country.

It's kinda of funny that the Presidential Palace isn't in the absolute flyest area of town. I stayed near there and I was considering getting an apartment for 400 bucks a month furnished everything included.

Appreciate the replies. I've been to Santo Domingo many times, but never really did the "on my own" thing since I have close ties there (that's also kept me protected/shielded). I was told it's kind of dangerous, even in Zona Colonial, because tourists are known to have more money and that can attract thieves from across the country.

Good to know cities like Sosua are safer.

I'm trying to visit 2-3 cities (solo) next time before I land in Santo Domingo so I can get some of that "independent traveler" vibe.

1-2 days there would probably still be okay for the visual at least (just like the first time someone visits Bangkok). Plus, alot of expats probably live down there, so I'd be interested in seeing firsthand how they're really living.

Yes there are a lot of expats down there. I went up there for King Lockett's birthday party. I guess you can't really avoid going up there just to say you did it. You will see some of the baddest chicks in the DR there. But you can see baddies at the W&P hotel lobby and Club too.

That being said it it is a hoe spot, but it's weird there was a chick that was at the villa of the cousin of another Youtuber she was a college student and we vibed crazy. The dudes went to catch their flight at POP and I caught the bus shorty was on the same bus heading back to Santo Domingo I asked her for her number and she said no. I'm guessing she was the hoein' but not really the hoein' You have girls that come up to link with one dude and one dude only.

The freedom is the biggest upside the ability to do what I want when I want, To feel how white folks feel i.e not being scared of the cops and having people cater to you.

The biggest downside is the freedom. To have no responsibilities to not have anything to do you find yourself sleeping in every fukking day and then you have to get up to run to the store before curfew (in Covid times) in regular times this is negated by living in big cities where things are open late.

Why do people act like the DR is not racist
They are just as racist against darkskin people as anywhere else
being american is getting u a pass

Yes don’t be red pilled for American girls and blue pilled for foreign girls

I'm a bit more free willed when it comes to my women...I know what the deal is gonna be and they better too. I'll give you a few bucks to make sure you alright when I'm out of town, you can check Hector Pablo and whoever else you want when I ain't in town, but once I land again make sure my food be cooked and my head be sloppy :takedat:
