In Most African cities there's "white side of town" Like in the states. You could call the Westlands area of Nairobi "Whitelands" Obviously there's only a tiny minority in regards to Africans there but that's where they live.

Black People should go to Africa just to see how white people have set up shop there. You go to some areas in Nairobi and you'll forget you're in Africa. One of the nicest Crossfit Gyms I've seen is in Nairobi next to this mall and Gated Community. Again mostly Rich Black people but a lot of white people live there too.
Fucc. Cacs everywhere. I can't take it if that shot is like what I Heard about S. Africa where the indigenous folks have been disenfranchised

Who do the Dominicans respect more? African Americans or the Europeans @Wiseborn
No one outside the west sees race in the same way we do. For all intents and purposes you're seen as a "white" person too.

I was in England back in the day and these white south Africans invited me to a "independence day" party (meaning the old aparthied independence day party and one of them thought it might be a bad idea. These were white people who dipped because they couldn't stand majority rule.

I'll drop some pro tips because this is not a "move to the DR brehs" thread it's more of a get in where you fit in thread.
When deciding where to live obviously you want to do your research knowing what is the cost of living and if the country will be a good fit for you.

The first place I'd start is the expat groups in that country and even that city. there might even be an ADOS expat group there's a Black expats of Colombia facebook group. Start with Facebook, then Twitter, follow the newspaper of record in the country twitter then local reporters. Usually a country will have their official "haters" meaning local people who live there and complain about their country. There tweets are gold they will give you a feel about how life is on a day to day basis.

Follow business news related twitter accounts too. You follow decent local news then compare that to the news about the country that the international press reports and you'll see huge differences. shyt will open you minds to biases in the media. Not just left right biases but shyt slated to fit a narrative like US media reports about the Chinese "taking over" Africa.

There's ajendas to all media.

Listin Diario The main newspaper.

Dominican Today (English Newspaper) with a focus on tourists and expats.

Then there's the Expat groups on Facebook (not very helpful or active)

However the Facebook Group BlackMen's Travel is actually pretty good. There discord is good too.

Cordel Beasely is in the DR right now scouting spots to set up a resort.

Flip- Flop's What's app group (however there's a lot of clowning and talking about hoes but despite that it's good)

Taylor Made Dreams is decent too, His Youtube and What's app group (but I wouldn't fukk with his legal insurance he's not able to get himself straight)

It's mainly about the Hoes but Take me back to Sosua has decent information for expats on the north coast.

Pro tip's to aspiring expats.

You should have some passive income. At least about a thousand a month. Again you can get by with less but you will spend more money in your first year.

You also need to be able to put your hands on 10K. This doesn't have to be cash It can be credit cards or even CD's or an 401K or IRA. But you will spend more money in your first six months especially if you don't know the language.

You absolutely need 5K cash stacked again in case of emergencies and to get started, obviously if you sell you're stuff in the states you should easily have 5 stacks.

You don't need to take a class (although it would help) you can get buy with Doulingo, Gritty spanish (gritty is better because it teaches you phrases that you will say) and Spanish with Paul on youtube is also good. Take 20 minutes a day learning that and you'll be gucci.

Pro Tip on the DR. Assume that you're gonna trick when you get there.

Dominican women dress sexy, They wear what most people in the states would wear on the beach in the mall or in the streets. You won't be able to tell the difference who's down for the fee or who's down for the free initially, they don't dress differently and they be in the parks and the clubs with the "regular girls".

It's funny to see BBL'ed up chicks in the malls with their families just chilling. You might wild out your first few months on the ground. What usually happens is you meet a chick you get the number and she comes through and before you get down she'll hit you with the fee. If you're too weak to bush her don't worry the thirst wears off after a few months and you stop tripping over every fat ass you see walking down the street.

Again I don't want to big up DR women too hard or act like there aren't ducks and fat bytches down here, but they all try to keep their hair and nails done no matter what so seeing random hoes wearing hot pants and putting a lot of care in their appearance is low key different.

General travel protips

Check Google flights daily. Usually you can get a good deal two to three months out. Check Skyscanner ITA Matrix Momodo and even Kayak To scan for cheaper flights Then go to the actual website to buy your ticket. It will be cheaper and always pick the local currency.

If possible go to the counter to buy a ticket it will be even cheaper.

Same thing with Airbnb's check it two to three months out check the monthly rates even if you don't plan to stay a month calculate the daily rate throw in a 20 percent discount and take off the service fees (that hosts use to jack up the cost of the listing) and make them an offer. Have at least two or more spots and message them both and see who bites.

Check booking.com too, but the pro to booking is that you don't have to pay before you arrive, the con is usually the service fees are hidden and usually harder to find than Airbnb' service rate.

Don't book at place that has less than 10 pictures
