The Dems and other neolib parties in Europe are definitely getting the stigma that they care more about illegal aliens and Muslim "refugees" then they do their own citizens. They've failed to articulate how taking in such people is beneficial to the citizens already here (because spoiler alert, I don't think it is) especially in the face of terror attacks.
I don't think black people really turn off too many people from the Democratic Party, among those that would consider voting for the Dem Party on merit/policy anyway.
I'm convinced that if it wasn't for the acceptance of illegals and Muslim "refugees" Hillary would be President, Remain would've won, Le Pen wouldn't of made the 2nd round etc.
What separates illegals and Muslims (and this goes for all religions, not just Muslims) from other disadvantaged groups is the factor of choice. People choose to be Muslim. People chose to come here illegally. I don't think you can chose to be something and then get special benefit out of it. On the flip side, one doesn't choose to be gay or black.
Also, "refugees" coming to the US and Europe from the ME aren't refugees at all. They're immigrants. Refugees are people who enter a neighboring peaceful country to escape war. Refugee-ism is defined by necessity, not luxury. You can't pick out the wealthiest countries on the other side of the globe and go there as a "refugee," passing 20 peaceful countries along the way.
As far as the "you can't win by going further to the left" I think that depends.
