If you was Tyler Perry right now would you be petty ..or charge it to game and be the bigger person?

:jbhmm: The ultimate "black man in a dress" built the 1st solely black owned movie full scale studio? Im going to try and not process it, my brain can't take it.... :snoop:

Let's be 1,000 when history books years from now mention this moment they'll note how he "portrayed a sassy older black woman in a dress" as the formula that generated his major success to becoming a billionaire and entertainment mogul. :francis: ...... :dame:

So my point is black boys in 2119 or even 2029 will be asked to write an essay on a black hero an they are going to evaluate different people and they will see Tyler Perry's name................:yeshrug:

It is what it is, but the "pause" is still in there, for what it's worth.

Nonetheless, congrats to him for bringing this together and it should reap benefits for black TV and movies for decades to come.

What exactly is the beef people have with Tyler Perry? I don't quite get it

Their beef is they aren’t in favor of the stereotypes that he repackaged and sold to his own people primarily to build his empire.

They instead often times are in favor of other stereotypes regurgitated by other entertainers that barely had any lasting financial ramifications for the entertainer themselves let alone the community as a whole.

I don’t like the dress shyt
I’ve never seen any of his movies in its entirety

I just think he’s one of the few who isn’t full of shyt and his resume speaks to that. This isn’t Kanye begging to be let in the fashion industry, this isn’t Jay being a glorified puppet to a room of multi billionaire honkeys with economic reach proclaiming a seat at the table and this isn’t a bunch of black People crying for light at the Oscars every year

It’s about making the world you’ve been denied and bringing your people in to eat and create more

Bittersweet victory for sure.

Nonetheless, best to hop on the shoulder on giants and continue to build.

Exactly. I I personally dont like his movies either. And ive never even bothered to watch any of the Madeah bullshyts. But i respect the man for being successful. He'll give many black actors and producers opportunities that they wouldnt get elsewhere.

The same mofos talking shyt now are the same ones who'd be bytching about not enough diversity in the industry blah blah blah.

Thats what i been saying

"There is not enough diversity where can we go as black actors":damn:

Black man gains the capital/Money to create a place for black actors and directors to go :blessed:

Damn. Is this what dressing in drag get you?:ohhh:

Your own goddamn movie studios!:damn:

So Coli, knowing the good that comes from this, was it worth it for him to sell out black masculinity?

Dressing in drag alone doesn’t get you a movie studio. Dressing in drag at a minimum cost generating excessive revenue continuously will get you your studio.

Adam Sandler has been peddling nonsense for almost 30 years and he doesn’t have a studio. Tom
Cruise thought he could just buy the movie theatres and we saw how that worked out for him.

Tyler Perry will say he’s blessed. I say that hard work and good timing is a wonderful thing.

At least respect his accomplishments. You're black in a racist country. Root for your kind doing big things despite all the adversity your kind faces. How's that?

Edit: And yeah i agree he's probably gay but aint my business. Leaves more dikk fiending women in ATL for me to get my paws on and add to my roster

People still gonna find a way to shyt on this man.

I remember back in the early 2000's I didn't know who TP, or Madea was and everyone looked at me like I was crazy.

When TP blew up and started making movies in shyt, folks started calling him out about the Madea role.

Its like folks didn't mind when it was still some what of a struggle, but when he blew folks turned on him.

And whats even more crazy is, his non Medea movies were better than his Madea movies most of the time.
