our % staying the same just means the total population is growing as fast as we are. that doesn't mean our population is staying the same. whites had the worst population growth even with all the people being counted white who aren't white.
groups with immigrants experienced the most growth. the only way AA numbers gonna grow like that is if a massive influx of people from Africa & caribbean start moving here.
Black americans-
1990 - blacks @ 12.1% with 30 million people
2016- blacks @ 12.4% with 40.8 million people (rounded)
that is a 34% growth from the 1990 population.
white americans =
1990 - whites @ 80.3% in 1990 @ 199.7 million people
2016 - whites @ 72.4% in 2010 @
223 million people
that is an 11.5% growth from their 1990 population.
hispanic americans -
1990 - 22.4 million people
2016 - 57 million people
that is a growth of around 255% since 1990
asian americans
1990 - 2.9% @ 6.93 million
2016 - 6.8% @ 21.6 million
that is a population growth of around 310% since 1990
