Yall speaking for yourselves :russ:

Auto loans over 60 months are not the best way to finance a car. And yet, 43.5% of new-car buyers in the third quarter of 2015 took out loans of 61 to 72 months, according to Experian. More alarmingly, Experian data show 27.5% of car shoppers are signing loans for between 73 and 84 months — that’s from six to seven years, folks, and that category grew 17.1% from the previous year.

This may not apply to you but that puts you in the minority

I have 3 and own a home.... buying another house next fall:picard::wow::takedat:
do you yourself actually have 3? we aint talking about what your girl or your wife is driving. do you own 3 cars?

the question is why? if the answer is just cause i can. then you're not smart. if you want to throw away money there's plenty of homeless people in need that could use a few of those dollars. you can only drive one car at time. if you just want to drive something super fly for the weekend. rent it and the moment you get tired of it. take it back. Two cars i might let slide if one of them is a Truck. that can haul some stuff or move some furniture without you having to ask someone for help. other than that, not a smart move at all.

Cars are a depreciating asset/dead money. Having two for no reason but to have em isn't smart at all. But we all have our vices. I lived in Chicago my whole life so a car will never be anything but an unecessary money sink to me. :yeshrug:

I own a 2018 Toyota Camry. A real low key car.

But I wanna cop a Bimmer or Benz within a year or two.

Doesn’t hurt to have a low key car if your driving through fukked up streets or dangerous neighborhoods. And you don’t wanna be flashy.

Assuming you can afford having two cars.

I live in NY and have several vehicles in my driveway. I can afford them, doesnt hurt my account in any fashion whatsoever. This is the only place I've seen where people think owning a car is dumb.

I have 7 cars, none are new, paid cash for em all, and I could make a decent profit on each one if I decided to sell. Probably going to be adding 2 more this year. I do mechanic work on the side, so I'm able to buy cars that need work for the low, then just repair em myself. 3 are projects/toys. I have a truck, too. It's a piece of shyt looks wise, but it runs great. I use it for picking up engines, transmissions, towing, or even shyt like picking up furniture or whatever.

How doesn't it hurt your account when you had to pay for your cars?

And do you pay for insurance + upkeep :jbhmm:

Do you own your garage? If so how isn't your account hurting when you could be renting out garage space?

The "you shouldn't buy a car because its a depreciating asset" line is peak smart-dumb bullshyt.

No shyt a car is a depreciating asset.

:skip:
Most things in life are depreciating assets.

What goes up in value after you've used it?

Pretty much nothing

The value of a car is getting a person from point a to point b quickly. The value of a truck is doing the same and hauling shyt as well.

I'm trying to figure out who put the idea into people's heads that makes them believe that the primary value of a car is flipping it on the secondary market...

Why do these dudes think cars are supposed to function like stocks and shyt?

:mindblown:
