Smh @ the first two posts. The ROMAN Soldiers did the killing act of crucifiction. Jews werent in power to take jesus to court and sentence him to death the romans were.

Pilate, the governor of Judea at the time, wanted to free Jesus but the Jews overwhelmingly objected to that, and to prevent a possible riot, Pilate had Jesus crucified to death. The Jews wanted Jesus dead because they claimed he was a blasphemer. Both the Jews and Romans were complicit in the death of Jesus.

Jesus and his apostles still used aramaic though, and the romans didn't force them to learn greek

you are ignoring the fact that it said the greek name is a transliteration of the hebrew

if it was written in greek first it would be the other way around

Are you saying the book of Matthew was first written in Hebrew?

Aramaic, which is derived for hebrew, this is the language Jesus and Apostles spoke

Matthias appears in the Greek Text which is a transliteration of Mattiyahu

if the original text was greek there would be no need to have a transliteration

Aramaic and Hebrew are not one and the same though.

The Aramaic word for Matityahu (Matthew) is "Mattai‎".

So, was the Book of Matthew first written in Hebrew?

Aramaic language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

First you have to understand how the semetic language system work which is why you confused

mattai is actually used in the scriptures but Yochanan is used as well which is hebrew

Aramaic is basically syriac

the Qu-ran is a syriac word, not arabic, but it's still used in the arabic because it also is apart of the semetic language
system
