LOL
Poor Canelo, whole career being protected by his promoter.
Multiple fights stolen from other lesser promoted fighters, Trout and Lara
Babied on the cards when he shouldn't have ... Floyd fight card in his favor is absolute disgrace
Made a career fighting faded names, smaller men, and hiding in a self created weight class.
Now he finally fights a person he has been ducking, aside from the fighters at 154 who have been calling him out and we are supposed to feel bad for him.
Nah Canelo is where he is because of his own actions and being coddled and babied.
I hope we get some great effort for him and a good fight.
He can change people's perception of him if he comes out and tries and wins or loses.

No doubt about Canelo's skills............ he's pretty damn accurate and one of the best combo punchers out there. But that stamina and rope lay worries me.
Stamina is a legit concern for BOTH fighters...

How many times has little g gon the distance?

He lost the winning rounds against Danny on all three judges score cards...

I've gone back and forth on it but I'm going on the record and saying I think Little G wins this one.

It's a tough fight to predict.

On one hand, you have a guy like Canelo. I KNOW that he's nice, but his matchmaking has been so meticulous, that he's SUPPOSE to look good. It can really create the illusion that a fighter is better than he really is. I think Canelo has only had one 50/50 fight in his career, which was Erislandy Lara. I don't think he was expected to win the Mayweather fight. However, based on what we have seen, the type of guys that give Canelo trouble are really the smaller, more skilled guys. BUT, we still have not seen him in with a top MW determine how effective he will be at that weight.

GGG is another interesting one. Will be able to handle the speed of a smaller guy that could be capable of hurting him? Is he on the downside? Did the Jacobs fight show that he declined, or in reality, is Jacobs actually the better opponent without the notoriety?

I don't man. I guess I will go with GGG. A fresher Canelo winning the early rounds. GGG gets acclimated to Canelo's speed/skill and take the middle/later rounds.

Yall need to stop bringing up the Floyd and Lara fights, they have absolutely nothing in common with little g's style...

Don't recall seeing Canelo recently gas in a fight where the opponent came to him...

I have only ever seen him tire in fights where he's had to chase guys like Lara and Trout...

In his last fight son didn't even sit on the stool in between rounds and that went 12 nor did he gas against Cotton...

Dan Rafael chat wrap 9/15:

GGG vs. Canelo:
- Both Canelo and GGG's camps are saying a fight with Cotto is entirely possible. Cotto told him Thurs. night he would fight GGG at 160.
- Canelo has a rematch clause, but it may allow an interim.
- It is rare a mega fight is so evenly matched. Last time he went back and forth so much was Trinidad-Vargas.
- ODH understands that losses don't derail your career (in his comments of "so what" in regards to if Canelo loses). If you lose in a good fight and give a good effort, the fans will want to see you again.
- Not unreasonable to think GGG really gets his jab going to control action.
- Doesn't think writers are secretly rooting for GGG. Both fighters are nice guys, easy to deal with, and well liked.
- Teddy Atlas believes Canelo won the stare down and it gives him an advantage in the fight. As usual disagrees with Teddy.
- Does not think the extra muscle will hurt Canelo. He did it intentionally and it was calculated to try and help him in this fight.
- This is GGG's biggest fight and he is desperate for it. Canelo wants to really win this fight, but it is not his biggest fight.
- Agree that Jacobs was a big, athletic, and talented MW in their prime. GGG dropped him and got the close win he deserved. Let's not forget that Jacobs skipped the morning IBF weigh in and had 15-18 lbs on him.
- Canelo's team could be looking at Jacobs size as a blueprint.
- Great atmosphere for the fight. Genuine excitement in the air.
- Some think that by fighting out of the division a couple times Canelo gave up his lineal title, others think he still holds it. After tonight the winner will be the lineal champion.
- They have heard the complaints of the east coast fans and they are assuring the fighters will be in the ring about 11 pm East Coast time.
- It is better for GGG's chances to get a KO, than try to get a victory on the cards vs. Canelo.
- Has seen no nervousness from GGG.
- Expects Canelo to be 175 to 178 on fight night.
- Officially picking GGG by late KO.
- Dave Moretti has a history of favoring Canelo on scorecards. He had Canelo-Cotto 11-1 and gave him 4 rounds vs. Floyd. He definitely prefers Canelo's style.
- GGG would be allowed to fight Cotto next without vacating a title, if he won.
- Both fighters are being VADA tested.
- Over/under PPV buys at 1.3 million? Over.

I agree with you as well. I think Mayweather could have lost, avenged said loss, and came back as big as ever and gotten back to being as big as he did. I for one even think if he loses after becoming Money, if it was the right guy and he came back to win, he still is the huge PPV draw. But I also think that because he never lost and the importance he personally placed on it and from there his fan base did, that he has a significant number of mainstream fans -- who are really his fans and fans of major events as opposed to true boxing fans -- think you're either undefeated or you ain't shyt.

I agree

However, if he loss as Money, I believe this loss would have needed to occur before the Pacquaio fight.

It was really smart for both guys to wait as long as they did. They knew that May/Pac was always going to be there for them, so they collected checks fighting other guys. Once that fight happened, interest in both guys pretty much went down. Obviously Mayweather bounced back with a great business decision to box a mma guy.

Nah little g definitely has skill. Nobody's denying that. I just feel it's been overstated due to his competition. When he started facing more skilled guys he hasn't really impressed much. He was down not he cards vs brook and he lost to Jacobs imo. But still, I consider little g to be a technical pressure fighter. A very good fighter but he's got major flaws that I think canelo is gonna exploit. And I think canelo's speed is gonna have him very frustrated. He's never had to deal with this kind of speed and counter punching.
I can respect this. If someone doesn't like GGG, they don't like GGG. Or if you pick someone to beat him that is cool. I just can't rock with the people who try to make the case he ain't shyt. You don't have his amateur record, medals, and do what he has done in the pro's if you are a bum. Now you may not think he deserves the hype he gets...that is a real discussion...but GGG's accomplishments deserve to be respected and he is a top level fighter.

That said, the Coli went and got off track for second in this thread and righted itself. People need to stop with the Canelo and GGG are overrated shyt. When you are popular people will always say you are overrated. Both fighters are great and both deserve to be considered top guys. This is a great fight where two guys want to fight each other.

Let the best man win. And lets respect both fighters for taking this fight and giving us a show, no matter who wins.
:salute:

Some people are picking Canelo to stop a man who hasn't even visually been hurt by a punch before. That's preposterous to me. If it do happen I will take my L. Regardless I'm just happy we got a great matchup.

Only way I could see Canelo doing that is with a left hook to the body like the one he hit dad bod with. I'm happy we got this matc-up too. To me its a true 50/50, so that where our opinions really differ.
