Canelo was tired vs Chavez who did nothing to him. Im interested to see how he deals with being pressured by an elite stalker for the entire fight.

I think he starts slowing down around the 7th around and by the Championship rounds, he's dead tired. That's when GGG starts teeing off and the ref steps in to stop the fight:manny:
Bayless is a good ref, but I don't remember his tendencies in regards to stopping fights. Does he pull the fighter out when trouble appears or does he let them marinate like Smoger :demonic:?

Fights arent judged by total punches.

My theory is, the only reason Jacobs didnt get the nod is because GGG vs Canelo has to happen:hubie:
Still disagree. I felt like if I scored it for GGG I had it 7-5, plus a KD, so 115-112 GGG...and if I was leaning Jacobs, I had it 6-6, plus a KD, so 114-113 GGG.

I just never saw the Jacobs outboxing him. GGG controlled most the action with his jab, landed more punches, landed the harder punches, had Jacobs hurt twice...that is just the general overview of the fight, not round by round - but I had it a narrow GGG victory. To me at best Jacobs frustrated GGG and didn't allow him to get his shots off or be his usual dominating self, but not enough to win.

That said, I won't get into arguments if someone saw it differently. It was a close fight and we all see things differently. Ward vs. Kovalev 1 deserved the same talking points that GGG-Jacobs did...it just didn't because the media's guy didn't win. It was a close fight. You could have scored it for Ward or Kovalev close (I had it Ward by 1 point) and you aren't crazy if you can defend your position.

It was a controversial decision for GGG over Jacobs.

As far as Ward/Kovalev 1...I dont care to argue if anyone thinks Kovalev won bc my fighter got the official W:heh:

I mean nikkas know good and well Jacobs lost that fight tho...I don't even know why we're pretending GGG ain't have him
tumblr_n5l1ltZYLW1tz53oao1_400.gif
that whole fight....Mfs REALLY just don't want to give GGG his just due as a serial killer in that ring...

Exactly

nikka was slapping with a lot of his punches and just throwing with the intent to land on GGG, not necessarily hurt him which is a shame since he had the size and power to do so.

I never heard of out-boxing someone without using a jab until this fight. All Danny did was use some lateral movement and flurries with the occasional hard shot here and there and for some reason nikkas were all :ohlawd: at the sight of that shyt. Meanwhile GGG is landing a head snapping jab all night, scored a knockdown, and his single thudding powershots seemed more effective then those lil shoeshine combos Danny was throwing.

GGG was doing the real boxing that night. It's just that he won't get the credit for it since he's coming forward. A lot of people assume that the guy on his backfoot is the one displaying skill or being more effective when its not always the case.

When the fight was over, Jacobs collapsed like he just crawled out of a pit full of wolves. Had his corner yelling at him to get up. :mjlol:

I'm not even shytting on Jacobs because he made it close and competitive with his effort, but I feel like his strategy made him lose the fight more than GGG won it.

funny thing is that round was close but Danny going down like that was a no-no to me which made it 6 even but the KD gave GGG the fight 114-113 on my card

My pops would walk a mudhole in my ass if I ran all night and then dropped to my knees after the final bell. You supposed to act like it was easy even if it wasn't. Jacobs demeanor made it seem like he fought GGG and his twin too.

This is a great synopsis. I felt the same way. I felt GGG won and clearly did so (albeit a close hard decision). He had Jacobs on his back foot all night and controlled the pace. People probably just were amazed that GGG didn't look superhuman and gave Jacobs close rounds.

And I 100% agree that Jacobs could have won the fight had he changed his game plan a bit. Despite being a hard hitter and bigger man, he fought to do enough to make rounds close, but not enough to put himself at risk. Had Jacobs taken a chance to let some more punches go he very likely could have flipped how I had all the rounds and won the fight. But he didn't. Maybe it was bad strategy...maybe it was because he took all that he could from what GGG gave him and that was his best.

That is why I can never entertain the opinion that Lara beat Canelo. Canelo did not look impressive, but Lara found out early he didn't want to take any risks vs. Canelo and ran. Lara could have stayed in the pocket and he would've out boxed Canelo, but he also would be at a far greater risk to get caught and hurt. Lara wasn't willing to take the risk and in return took away his shot to win the fight, to me.

if Lara boxed up Canelo like he did Trout it would have been a wash but Lara and his damn circling...cost him that fight...if I have some time tomorrow or sat morning if I wake up early for some reason I might go revisit that fight

The angulo fight where he got KD'd probably had him come into the fight extra cautious..........

Yep. Lara looked like he could have been the better fighter. The way he had Canelo missing was impressive. But he was content to not take a single chance and ran around the ring that night. If Lara had stayed in the pocket he may have got KO'd, but he would have been outboxing him until it happened (see: Amir Khan).

Golovkin vs. Jacobs - CompuBox Punch Stats - Boxing News

GGG outlanded Jacobs overall (126 power punches to 144 for Jacobs but 105 jabs to Jacobs' 31) at a better percentage, landed a knockdown, had Jacobs' face swelling like a balloon, and had homie leaning on the ropes gasping for air right after the fight. But Jacobs won :childplease:

This fight was a classic case of people giving the underdog the win because he did better than expected.
