Damn, everybody is so mad about that judges score. I dont get why?

I am watching the fight and Max was the only person not dikkriding GGG so hard. He even said there could be judges who see the round differently because Max himself was seeing it a bit diff while Lampleyand Lederman were being fanboys.

Canelo did a great job of catching a good amount of those GGG punches on his gloves and arms. Some of those thuds you hear are not a landed punch, but a blocked punch. I thought Canelo was winning actually. I was laughing at the fact Lederman saw the fight so differently. I even posted about his 7-2 card going into the 10th because there is no way Canelo only won two rounds. Hell at one point Canelo was walking to GGG. The biggest problem was Canelo laying on those ropes as he was getting tired.

I dont know, I feel like too many people are giving GGG extra credit for aggression, but Canelo had him whiffing a good amount of those punches on the ropes earlier
HBO has their viewers trained to think

coming forward = winning the fight

and that applies even if dude coming forward is doing nothing with his hands...

This mentality stems from the Pac vs JMM fights and perpetuated by Lampley and Lederman...

This is why I refuse to watch fights on HBO...

This is exactly the kind of Shyt I hate about boxing

GGG won this fight EASY
I can accept a 115-113 split decision but a draw where one judge said 118-110 with no knockdowns.. wow

They robbed him.. Point blank

The fight was good but no way am I paying for a rematch .. It wasn't THAT good and the ending (scoring) made it even worse in my opinion

I Didn't watch Floyd's last two fights and after this
I may not buy another (PPV) fight ever
Explain to me how one wins a fight "easy" when he clearly lost the first 3 rounds and last 3 rounds of a 12 round fight...

Yall dudes way too fixated on that one retarded judges card who should be banned from the sport for that shyt...

The other two score cards were on point...This was a close fight that legit could of gone either way...

GGG didn't lose the first 3 or last 3 though....

Canelo tired out halfway thru each of the 8 - 11 rounds, and ggg landed just as many /more shots after eating canelo early round activities... so no, he didn't win those, 12 could go either way, but rounds 3 thru 11 was ggg control

So what you're telling me is dominating the first half of a round is irrelevant...

Coming forward and scoring with jabs in the latter half of a round is more important?

I remember that. You were right. You said you saw Canelo looking at Floyd and learning during the fight. I even had to neg a few casuals for coming at u.

Ski, do you think GGG could beat the Floyd that beat Canelo ?

Thank you breh!!

At 154? Hell naw. I wish Floyd was 35 right now. Floyd would've confused the hell outta him. GGG would've been walking right through Floyd punches though:mjcry: I would've spent the whole fight like :whew::lupe::lupe::damn::banderas::umad:

nikkas talking about about Canelo had the clean more effective punches..How effective are your punches when you hit the nikka and he looks at you unfazed ,smiles and keeps chasing you ?

Every time GGG touched Canelo the boy started doing the Lara like Pennywise was chasing him.GGG's pressure is why Canelo gassed after 3 this time and not after 7 and 8 like usual.

overall thoughts:

  • Draw is justifiable but if someone point a gun at my head to tell the winner I'd rather say GGG, anyway the draw is okay
  • While Canelo was fresh - in the first few rounds and basically the first-first and a half minutes of rounds he was winning the exchanges
  • Golovkin applied consistent pressure as he always does
  • Golovkin did a nice job rolling with Canelo's straight right sometimes and Canelo did a nice job rolling with Golovkin's straight rights almost all night.
  • Both have some great chins
  • Little disappointed in Canelo's preparation I thought he came out with a... not sustainable game plan because he didn't improve his biggest Achilles heel what everybody knows about, including him which is his stamina. I don't know if he ever can improve it tbh f he couldn't even do it for a fight this magnitude.
  • Canelo should stay inside or pocket next fight cause as crazy as it might sound one shouldn't move away from Golovkin cause he usually has the better footwork so the only thing the opponent achieves with moving away is Golovkin gaining momentum which is essential to a pressure fighter. Someone with a elite defensive footwork could outmaneuver Golovkin winning an UD but Canelo doesn't have that level of footwork. So he should stand his ground more often bu not on the ropes. Also with staying inside he would negate Golovkin's best weapon, his jab.
  • If you look at how some of the best pressure fighters lost recently it was by the hand of guy who came at them, didn't leave them forward momentum and just mauled them, outmuscled them. See Hatton vs Tszyu or Chocolatito vs Sor. Problem for Canelo is that he's not that type of fighter and he couldn't even be cause for that bulldoze style - even if he probably has the physical power to do it - high workrate hence good stamina is essential.
  • Canelo's only way to win the rematch is to stay in the center of the ring, bend a lot from the waist to avoid the incoming shots as he did often times and punish Golovkin with counters, and when he can't escape go ahead and clinch instead of backing to the ropes.
  • and of course: Ward still P4P #1

I thought it was a great fight. 5th, 9th and 11th had me

I'm not a good scorer and I scored it 115-115 (10-10 on the 6th and 11th) so I can see it as a GGG win, it's fine.
I think what was the hardest in this fight was too distinguish volume against cleanliness. GGG had the volume, the jabs, the stakling and Canelo had good elusiveness, clean power punches and counters. I felt like GGG was not really accurate with his punches, missed plenty and sometimes was sloppy and I believe it was partly because Canelo had very good upper body movement. However, even though GGG started gun shy he loosen up through the fight and managed to turn it around only for Canelo to tie it up in the championship rounds with greater activity. Hopefully, GGG will start more aggressively in the rematch and go to the body more because he was clearly lacking in this compartment unfortunately.

Also Compubox is garbage, after the 2nd, there's a replay when GGG lands a clean straight right (not very powerful though) and then Lampley states something like "according to Compubox, all the punches GGG landed were jabs" al that after the replay clearly showed a landed straight right :stopitslime:
10th round was great...whole theater clapped it up hard after that round.
