Y'all see how these old heads operate

Peep game. Member them old heads sucking macklemores dikk?

Same shyt.
Macklemore was making fairly good music, and actually respected rap legends enough to work with them on heavy commercial projects.
He may be pandering to the "true hip-hop" fan base, but at least he's actually doing something. You don't get that type of respect for classic hip-hop/rap from most newer generation artists.

If all of the respect Eminem recieves from rappers like Rakim back then was all "Industry politics" why is Eminem still recieveing props from current new school artists?

Props is one thing, I agree Em is a top tier emcee.

But he is not seeing top 10 of all time. So Rakim saying Em is the next Muhammad Ali of rap is crazy, same Ra who doesn't really give Nas or Pac probs, but is quick to give Jay-Z or B.I.G. props.

Trust me, politics plays a part in this.

:what:

Muhammed Ali of the rap game:why:

In his prime he was just a shock value MC, talking about raping his mom & killing fakkits etc.... :childplease:

He's had moments that stood the test of time but hardly many.

Rakim co-siging Eminem is worse than him co-signing Juelz.

i do wonder what a rakim and eminem track would've sounded like back when rakim was on aftermath though :jbhmm:

the thought of Rakim rapping on one of Eminem's cartoon villain, plodding fart noise beats

giphy.gif

"don't put me up with them pop stars...."

but he clearly wanted to be one of those pop stars....badly.

:yeshrug:

he can't be mad if people overlook him because he's a corny fakkit.

and jesus, he sounds horrible over that classic.
i don't like him but i could respect his talent as rapper but he sounds so robotic now.

Non militants aren't as hung up on the racial implications of c/s a CAC devil so thoroughly in a black asrt form. Fact he used Muhammad Ali name is a betrayal. As pro black as Ali was as well.

Rakim gonna be known to cacs henceforth as the credible rap dude who overruled every black Eminem dissenter.

Rakim's hyperbolic statement aside, Eminem was a high regarded MC from '99-'04. SSLP, MMLP, TES, his guest appearances, and songs on the 8 Mile Soundtrack are proof of that. Anybody that denies that doesn't understand the art of emceeing. I'm not just talking about some rappity rap, "lemme rhyme as many syllables as I possibly can" type lyricism either. Eminem actually had wit, depth (metaphors, similies and imagery that actually painted pictures). He could indeed write songs. Who cares about the opinions of people who don't listen to rap outside of Eminem (which is where most if not all of the downplaying and discrediting of Eminem comes from. It's pretty much a knee-jerk response). I think The Beatles are the most overrated group ever, but I can't deny John Lennon's pen game. Are there better writers? Of course, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he was great.

Skill wise nobody you named again is better. Skill wise he lacks in no area of MCing while everyone else is below goat tier in one area or another skill wise. Jay is not a better mc than em lyrically he is not equal to em, renegade demonstrated this. nas may be but his flow is not equal to em's, big is not em's equally lyrically either and none of them going to out do Em in a freestyle or Cypher. Em content is trash because he is white and when he came out nobody was going to let him rap hood shyt and be taken as a serious artist. If he was black he would have done that. Stop talking about sales, go reread what I wrote originally you keep missing the point and going on rants about how you feel about Eminem. Idc bout none of that stick to my points if you want to engage me.
What you call "points" are OPINIONS. Do you not know the difference? You say Jay, Nas or BIG are not equal to Em. I disagree. You stating all of that like it's facts. They are your opinions. Facts vs. opinions...look it up. I mentioned sales because you said his being white is a "flaw" and I'm saying while they may have been true in the very beginning when he was trying to get on, since then it has been an asset, as we can see in his enormous sales.

Lyrically Nas the only 1 you named that can be called equal that's fact. Sales have nothing to do with skills so all that was irrelevant to what I said.

They are comparable when you get into the technical shyt but Em is a better songwriter than Monch IMO.

I feel like he's underrated in that aspect. And you can say that about a lot of the names people usually throw out there (Chino/Canibus ect. ) who kinda occupied that niche before he became a more well rounded artist.

And that's why Eminem will forever be damned in hip hop.

The sad fact is that a lot of people who listen to his music have no understanding or interest in hip hop and only listen to him. It hurt his credibility beyond repair so now people get :scusthov: when you compare him to Nas and Jay and the like. And when they do claim to be fans of Eminem, they don't really mention songs like "Who Knew" or "The Way I Am" or "White America." They mention "Love the Way You Lie" or "The Monster." :aicmon:

Eminem is definitely not the greatest rapper of all-time and chances are, he ends up falling out of contention for a top ten spot as well. But he has paid his dues, put in quality work with a lot of his earlier material (forget the corny, pointless songs and his 1999-2002 output is :ohlawd:), and has displayed enough talent to earn his place as a top-tier emcee. You can be a true fan of hip hop and actually enjoy playing Em's music.

I think the opposite. Monch is a better song writer than Em in my opinion.
