Why the hell did Dan Severn pull out of the tournament? He beat Godfather and just withdrew. Dan Severn would've destroyed everyone in the tournament if they let him continue on :heh:

Edit - Just saw this note on Wiki.

NOTE: Quote from Dan Severn off of Sherdog radio says he and Ken Shamrock were not allowed to participate, but then Dan Severn was asked to participate. After defeating The Godfather he was told he was no longer allowed to continue.

nothing about it made sense.....everyone was intently watching RAW the next night after Foley went flying off the cage, and suddenly they bring out this boxing tourney with no previous introduction. :heh:

Brawl for all was only entertaining in the fact that Bart Gunn of all wrestlers had some hands and scored highlight reel KOs over everyone he faced except one.

What they did to Bart Gunn after was terrible. They were willing to break kayfabe just to teach Bart a lesson :smh:

The funny thing is japan took notice and they properly sold Bart Gunn as the man who koed Dr Death and that extended his career.

Bart knocking out JBL

I believed HBGOAT at the end when he was like "this guy has the world at his feet"... Gunn just wasn't smart enough to nix the Butterbean shyt

They wouldn't have left him. They should of stopped right here.

was it me or did that Brawl for All just pop up outta nowhere. Like they didn't announce it a week beforehand as a new thing or nothing. Just started on RAW randomly one night. :heh::mjlol:

Far as Dr. Death, wasn't he pretty much past his prime at that point? I mean I remember when I was a kid he was possibly as his peak. So by that point he wasn't going to be main eventing. Unless JR just really got in Vince's ear.

Yep and the fans didn't catch on that it was real until later in the tournament.

1) Funny reading each post in this thread and wondering which ones are referring to Bart Gunn and which are referring to Dr. Death. I assumed that OP meant "how far Dr. Death could have gone if he hadn't been KO'ed?" To some degree, I think he could've been an early prototype for how Brock is booked now. Shoot-fighting destroyer. I recall him putting the Hardy Boys on their necks 2-on-1 and his move set looking really stiff. Against Austin, they could've played up the old neck injury and how Austin's never fought anyone that legit. If done right, he could've had a nice run.

2) How the hell did the WWF sanction that Brawl-For-All shyt? Straight up boxing matches in random states with their own refs?

Ill just say Dr. Death was always meant for Japan, he WAS a gift for Pro Wrestling before Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar arrived. The way of his death was justly unfair, seeing him being claimed by cancer was heartbreaking.
i cant believe no one came to his aid money wise..I think they were like 18 grand away ,in a fund raising drive, from getting him a surgery or something (I vaguely remember this from a podcast, so dont quote me on exact specifics) and dudes like Jim Ross couldnt be found to help the cause?

To answer the second question it probably slipped under the radar cuz it was known wrestling was staged so why would they NOT stage that.:yeshrug:
