Idris is very soilid actor and he would Kill the Bond Role. But this myth that we "want" this has to stop. This is White and Jewish Hollywood Execs being Lazy. I couldn't care less about Bond, I haven't seen any of the Bond movies all the way through before, and I think Elba would be amazing in the role

But isn't the character from the book white? I don't think it's "racist" to suggest the character should look similar to how it was written. Just like casting a white person in a role that was written as a black person might be cool in that the white person could be a great actor, but it just would seem awkward and forced

People are always fussy about 007 looking a certain way. I mean they got upset over Daniel Craig not having dark hair. Elba seems to look the part of a secret agent, but it would be strange after 50 years. I think it could be done though. Some people just have a certain image in mind for a character. I remember a while back reading that Will Smith was offered neo in the matrix first and turned it down. While I enjoy his work better, it's hard to picture him in the role. At the same time, I definitely can't envision anyone but Lawrence Fishburne in the role of Morpheus. Only seen elba in maybe 2 movies though. What's he been in besides Thor and Prometheus?

This. There is no campaign to make Bond black, or to make the Human Torch or Nick Fury black. That is entirely on white casting directors/writers. If anything, there is a demand for more original black characters.

A black man SHOULD be able to do that. Therefore, get people out of what they think are their comfort levels, and the world will become a place where a black man can walk among white elites.

As for Idris, count me in as someone wanting a Luther movie. I'd let another nikka take on the Bond mantle, just so that everyone knows Idris isn't the only great black actor who can tackle the role. They can't pigeonhole a nikka. That's where we need to be.
