TBH, NYC sports is pitiful in general. So many damn teams, yet no championships in over a decade (NYCFC doesn't count, truthfully).

The Yankees and Giants have historically held up NYC sports. Now, the Yankees are trash, and while the Giants are on the rise, they aren't a Super Bowl-contending team.

The closest NYC team to a title right now is the NY Liberty, but the WNBA doesn't have the same broad appeal as the Big Four leagues, obviously. Also, the Liberty look a tier below the Aces (the defending champs).

Was talking to my older brother who's been a yankee fan for some 35 years...I'll say the same thing I told him: Its f*cking beyond me how Cashman was able to keep his job after the 2001-2008 years. This dude gotta have pictures of the Steinbrenner family. My goodness.

George must’ve been in far worse health than anyone let on. If ever there was a time we needed the madness of manager George for just one last time. His being promoted to GM legit is one of the worst things to ever happen to this team along with hal inheriting them of course and Thurman Munson’s plane crash (44 years ago today RIP).

Let’s be honest Cashman still has a job because he has a long standing relationship with the Steinbrenner family so status quo and not having someone rock the boat is preferable. Want easy working environment.

As long as he keeps them competitive enough so they make the playoffs is good enough.

No desire to get better just want to sit back and enjoy the cash flow the team makes them.

Now I think that might be coming to an end I think the fans finally caught on that this organization just wants competitive enough to get fans in the seats. Championships are not a concern.

Fans are gonna start getting nasty and tapping out. Will see how long it takes before they’re forced to make the moves they don’t want to make.

I remember when all the WFAN callers (and tbf Yankee management) wanted to run A-Rod out of town. If A-Rod wasn't on the Yankees they don't win in 2009. That's some irony.
If Jeter was a real leader he would have publicly embraced and supported Arod in the early years instead of huddling with Posada and acting like a scorned bytch over the fact that he would never be as great as Alex Rodriguez.

The Yankees won 4 championships with Jeter before Arod got there.

And if you remove Jeter from those 4 championship teams and replace him with A-Rod or Garciaparra, they still win 4 championships.
