So it’s about sales then.
I just want to keep it for the record. Nas was never the biggest selling NYC rapper after 1996 so he was never King.
So it’s about sales then.
You not from NY bro. Trust me when I tell you when Nas had that title. He had it. No discussion.
You looking at it from a music or popularity or record sales standpoint. Im talking about it as a person who actually lives out here.
There's underground Nas songs that people play on the block to this day that the world has never heard of.
If you asked people they would say Nas.Once again biggie died. The question was who gonna be the guy
Nas just had one of the biggest albums why wasnt he the guy?
Nas never wanted it. Jay campaigned for it. He took it when he beat Jay. X naturally had it before Jay. Nas had it in 96 too. Biggie had 94-95 imo. Mase had 97 overall. Jay had 00-01. Nas had 02.
I would say Nas or Method Man had it in 94’
Ready to Die was a slow burner, didn’t pop til 95 when Puff did all the remixes
Regardless. Nas had that shyt in 96. nikka was the most successful rapper from New York that year. There was Noone else who came close that year.I would say Nas or Method Man had it in 94’

Everybody know it was Nas in 02 nikkas just be making shyt up on here. Lol.The Source deemed 2002 as the year of Nas
Just face it Jay was from 98-2003
Then 50 took it in 2003 and the title been dead once he fell off in 06
This nikka Kendrick is a trouble maker. I see why he got jumped at the Compton Swap Meet.cant forget the current king of new york
Pop was truly one of them ones who I felt at up next. Before he died he was starting to switch up the vibe too (mixing it up from just drill music). It's a shame what happened to him.No pop smoke for 2020?
I know he didn’t start drill obviously but he pioneered a specific type of drill so that sheer amount of influence alone should have him there. He had the same amount of projects if not more when Big was alive and he’s held in too high of a regard imo just based on the lack of music and not the quality I just don’t think it’s enough.Pop was truly one of them ones who I felt at up next. Yup, I'd throw in Q-Tip and Nas as quintessential Queens guys too.Harlem is pretty much the only black enclave in Manhattan. Manhattan damn near a tourist spot outside of Harlem.
Harlem aint even that big either. Its just a couple blocks. You can go thru the whole harlem in a couple of hours.
Dont get it twisted tho either. Queens nikkas get alot of respect, they are seen as smoother dudes usually. If someone says that they remind you of a Queens nikka they aint tryin to play you or nothing. Its just that Brooklyn and Bronx nikkas are seen as the rowdy one's, Harlem nikkas are the fly guys and Queens nikkas are the smooth nikkas.
Lloyd Banks is a prime example of a "Queens nikka"
