:beli: again,

It's easy to tell the difference in delivery between the HipHop and Dancehall mc'ing. You can hear both styles in this song

more ragga style vocals (jungle)

more HipHop style (2 step garage....)

Grime could literally not have been conceived at any other time or place in the world other than in the early 00s in London

Heritage and influence are two very different things and that seems to be the thing you can't quite get your head around

yes and no. For one, with the black american influence grime would have never materialized because all UK Black music is black american music with British Jamaican mixed in, with a British twist.

Heritage and influence are two very different things and that seems to be the thing you can't quite get your head around

answer this which of these sound more like Grime, musically and or/vocally

Dancehall

HipHop modern R&B

What's so funny? HIpHOp is electronic music:skip:

nikka said Electronic music was a sub-genre of Hip hop.

Electronic music's roots stem from pre-war times FFS. Before Hip hop was ever a thing.

answer this which of these sound more like Grime, musically and or/vocally

Dancehall

HipHop modern R&B

nikka, at the time of Grimes birth, No One was listening to Southern music like that in the UK, so how you think that sound influenced Grime is beyond me.

Also, If you wanna make futile comparisons with Hip Hop being the main influence on Grime, a more apt one would be Jungle/UK Garage/Rave songs, instead of skipping generations and going straight to Dancehall.

Electronic music modern electronic dance are 2 different hings. Modern EDM did take it's cue from HipHop sounds/production techniques

In the UK they were aware of Southern HipHop even in the late 90's The guy in the video below talks about Miami Bass influencing UK Garage music @ 46:55

and this early Grime:sas2:
