I think about this all the time. I think its purely a follower type mentality, especially when they are voting for things that directly hurts them.
I seriously can't understand how anyone, not a white male, can vote republican...

I guess this being my first time voting, is what confuses me.
Why would someone vote against their own interest. In "theory" the premise of the government, is to work for the people.
How hypocritical do people sound when make notations like they want less, government but a larger military. Less government, but the corruption of wall street needs to stopped. Less government, but no more pink slime in food. Less government, but no education yet america is falling people in academics (Math & science) etc......
I need to get out of this country. France, Germany and Brasil are looking nice. At least my quality of life may be enhanced. I could live with smashing liberated enlightened pawgs. @88m3

Blacks voted republican until the 60s when Dr. king was in jail and Nixon neglected to come see him, figured he already had us in his pocket (sound familiar?). JFK saw it as an opportunity and when King came out he endorsed him and we've been democrats ever since.
I was listening to a Killer Mike interview and he said us blacks should register independent and watch how quick the party actually starts giving a fukk about our communities.
Registering independent won't do anything if you still vote Democrat all the time. Maybe if African-Americans started supporting independents at the local and Congressional level.
There are a lot of minorities and women who are socially conservatives which leads them to vote against their own economic self interests. Then there are those who have have been brainwashed into accepting right wing economic policies.

Cosign, but I don't even understand broke white males who think that voting Republican will help them. It's an incredibly intense delusion that makes them think that they're going to somehow be "in league" with the party brass by supporting them. It's the same reason that conservatives use language like, "A STRONG Republican [fill in the blank]. A STAUNCH conservative [fill in the blank]."
There was a story on TYT about a woman who was ranting on and on about how she was a Republican, taking herself to other tables in the PF Chang's, asking people why they wouldn't vote Republican. When they tried to throw her out, she said, "You can't throw me out, I'm a Republican!"
And doesn't that say it all? The broke white people see themselves on the same level as the rich and powerful white people, which is why they feel a kinship with them (even though the only color that matters is green).

This thread makes me think of a girl I went to school with. She's black and I remember for a fact, that she got free lunch right along with me. Now she's working as a special needs teacher in the inner-city, yet she always on FB talking bout how she's voting for Romney
She claims it's because republicans stand for less welfare and lower taxes. I tried to explain to her that Romney would actually be removing programs that she and her family need. Hell her job is funded by the very programs she's voting against. I sent her a link showing how taxes have gone down under Obama. She said "my taxes went up" I said "did you make more money?" her "so what" me
I think she just likes the attention, she gets by saying stupid shyt

It's really sad. If you look at the polls, half of the popular vote goes to Romney, but 4% of America benefits the most from his policies. What are the 45+% basing their logic on?
Not to mention, if you are Republican but not a white male, in their eyes you're still not respected.
