These people are not at the same level or influence as the people i named. Its not just about owning your masters or being on an "independent" label or being self made. its about being self made on a large scale. Dame Suge J Prince Irv was going to put their money together to form a distribution company. a fukking distribution company. thats the kind of bossing up im talking about. not little shyt like that Fetty Wap and Chance The Rapper shyt

the rap bosses in the 90s were way closer to getting on that level then any of these nikkas today are

Where's Dame and Suge today ? :martin:

Any excuse to sh!t on the youth ...let them rock ...it's their time :yeshrug:

He gets a nod same as Bootsy or George Clinton for directly influencing hip-hop but as far as his music being hip-hop....no. Never even heard of that shyt unless it was in an "honorary" capacity.

you gotta be kidding me if you never heard electro hop/funk in typical street/hiphop settings:dahell:

Listen to "Renegades Of Funk" then "Sucker MCs" and tell me it's the same genre.

thats like saying, listen to "Sucker MCs" and then listening to

...and asking if they're the same genre:beli:

I been into rap since '84....fringe fans that dabbled in other forms of music listened to electro.

Electro and Electro Funk/Rap aren't the same thing.

And for the record I love his music, but not everything that contributed to hip-hop is hip-hop. Next thing you know Kraftwerk will be hip-hop.

Fred.

Funk and Disco is the foundation for HipHop, period. Kraftwerk influence is in the sub-sound of HipHop that came to be Electro Hop/Funk

Also 9/10 times the dudes flying under the radar are always the most 'normal.' Just like big, mainstream artists like Diddy were wearing shiny ass suits in the 90s while lesser known artists had more leeway to do their own thing, there are a lot of lesser known artists out now that are still pretty 'regular.'

Isaiah Rashad if TDE would let this nikka put out an album :comeon:

I like the kids from Rae Sremmurd, too

I remember DMX saying when he first started getting big they wanted him to wear shiny suits and patterned club shirts like Puff and it was a big fight for him to do his own thing and have his own authentic look.

Salute for sremmurd they real talent , also shouts to nip & spitta and my nikka dolph and ny nugga gibbs

Basically it's an argument of "Is Nipsey underachieving because he isn't Snoop Dogg"?

Which is pretty stupid

:mjlol:

Yeah, that took a left, then. For some reason I was thinking it was a thread wondering why Victory Lap seems to be running into issues getting out.

I think now more than ever, fans should stop expecting rappers to be the next version of someone that came before them. The industry isn't really constructed for one artist to be THE identifying artist of a region anymore.

I love it but it I stand by my statement given the context of this thread. The majority of the youth will connect more with 101and that isn't problem, nor does it take away from OB4CL greatness.
Looks like I jumped the gun on the neg.
