I love it but it I stand by my statement given the context of this thread. The majority of the youth will connect more with 101and that isn't problem, nor does it take away from OB4CL greatness.

Irony being Nas showed how to destroy hip hop sneakily and then DMX's production aesthetic killed off sample based production.

Those 2 did tremendous damage.

Reason for that is not cause of quality. It's cause nikkas have gotten accustomed to that sound. Some even grew up on it. None of that matters to me. What matters to me is if it's better hip hop. It's not imo. It's dope as fukk don't get me wrong. But just cause the youth could relate to it don't make it better or even on par. I don't live my life for what the youth can relate to. shyt. When I was a youth I didn't even carry myself like that.

I am tired of these threads because you can find questionable photos from the 90s too.

Are we going to pretend BUSTA RHYMES wasn't dressing like an Asian girl before both Young Thug and Lil Kim?

Here are just 3 of MANY examples of Busta wearing girls clothes and being suspect. Does that mean all of the 90s was like that?

It actually is your opinion though. You're almost passing it off as a fact. I'll stayl in the world of hypothesizing and theorizing because all of this is subjective. TM101 is a quality album from the content, production, and the visuals. The youth will always play the most pivotal role in shifting this culture because it comes from the youth (now that is fact).

Everything else you said I can rock with my g... At the end of the day the 90s and mid 2000s is my moment but I can't front on these young naggers and their art.

you're right :ohhh:

But then again I think some of those early cats had disco and funk roots.

Disco and Funk cats really didn't rock leathers with spiked gloves

I said it was my opinion bro. Lol. And I'm def not shyttin on young cats. If u a young cat who puts thought and care into their craft. Care about the shyt u sayin. And care about showing some type of artistic skill than imma def always show love. If it's dope it's dope. But I'm not just gonna go around gIving passes to alot of these nikkas who don't even care to be coherent. Don't even try to put effort into they shyt. And have zero quality control. Just wanna go in the booth and ramble and brag about how they don't write when it's clearly evident. nikkas don't care about what they do so why should I? Imma give u what u put into it. Me dealing with this music shyt for years has me seeing all kinda dumb shyt these lil nikkas do. They literally in the booth with zero direction. Zero plan. Nothin. That's not even including the nikkas wit the ghostwriters n shyt. These nikkas don't care bruh. Why should i? I'm not sayin all of em. But it's def too much of em like this.

I think you're right on this one again :smugbiden:

I'm an old head but not quite old enough to speak on pop culture stuff from the early to mid 80's. Old school wednesday filled in some holes for me but I still got plenty of holes.

They're different. I don't think they place the same emphasis on lyricism as the last two classes of artists/MCs who were before them and it isn't a problem. Hip Hop at it's inception is party/rebel culture (music). The genesis of hip hop was party music and like water it can take on any shape and evolve. That is beautiful (a blessing) because it keeps the art refreshing. Sometimes we get trapped in time and use what we've been indoctrinated into to govern/grade the quality of music, however, in reality that's all subjective.

I can admit that RHQ freestyle was hard to watch but at the same time I love his music. I know what he's capable of as an artist and what to expect from him. I also love The Internet and can appreciate their blend of bars, electronic sounds, and melodies..

This generation is creating and setting their own standards. It's dope to see.. They can't be assessed through 90s lenses and it doesn't bother them lol

A classic album for them is Take Care or So Far Gone. Carter 2/3 is their illmatic.. Kanye is their goat... Gucci Mane is their goat..

it doesn't bother me... I see what you're saying with some of your points though fam.. We're living in another shift were the young cats are starting to dominate the mainstream hip hop sound..
