And every time one of these "old head" threads get made now people talk about :sas1: "but what about Africa Bambataa?" which is :martin: because nobody considered his shyt hip-hop. It was electro/dance music. People that were strictly rap fans weren't checking for his shyt.

This is what happens when there are no barriers to entry. You get wack shyt.

The good thing is of course that now anybody can put their music out on the web. The bad thing is now anybody could put their music out on the web.

In the 90s, none of these rappers would have gotten signed and promoted. The gatekeepers would have knew they were wack and saw they had no street buzz. Now these goofs can make their horrible music, shoot cheap videos and feel like they're stars when the reality is they'd sell less than 5,000 records.

He gets a nod same as Bootsy or George Clinton for directly influencing hip-hop but as far as his music being hip-hop....no. Never even heard of that shyt unless it was in an "honorary" capacity.

Listen to "Renegades Of Funk" then "Sucker MCs" and tell me it's the same genre. I been into rap since '84....fringe fans that dabbled in other forms of music listened to electro.

And for the record I love his music, but not everything that contributed to hip-hop is hip-hop. Next thing you know Kraftwerk will be hip-hop.

An entire generation being tricked into becoming permanently unemployable and completely dependent upon the state.

Also, the black community has been batshyt insane for the past twenty years, so obviously the children of pathological serial killers and criminals won't be walking around like Clarence Thomas.

The funny thing is before RUN DMC, rappers then also dressed like Rockers:patrice:

you're right :ohhh:

But then again I think some of those early cats had disco and funk roots.
