I think he's just trying to circumvent the rule (and corresponding fine) that doesn't allow you to publicly request a trade. He seemed very calculated in his remarks, not emotional like it really was about 'joy.' he's not looking like 97 Shawn Michaels out there. He's an aging star looking for his last ride into the sunset, I am not convinced it's about money so much as it is about winning. Y'all always pointed him some alpha male hyper competitive beast - why is that not a consideration now?
Because he didn’t say that

He said he lost his smile :laff: :laff:

I dont get the play from either side. Jimmy is getting up there in years and has been injury prone and just plain :manny: during the regular season for years. Is showing his ass really gonna make a team commit to him.

As far as Riley goes, you got a depreciating asset. The longer you hold on to it the less value it has. You get nothing for letting him walk.

Tough talk and posturing is cool and all but eventually you gotta actually be smart and think beyond that. I dont see how either side benefits from any of this.
I understand it from Riley. Sometime just letting a big salary walk is better than trading just to trade. I can't see any team giving up anything valuable for a 35 year old injury prone player who wants a huge contract extension.

Yes...when you will have cap room. Letting an asset with value, that had been your best player, just depreciate and then walk for nothing with no cap relief doesnt help in any way. And dude has a player option. So if he doesnt get what he is looking for on the market you could still be stuck with him for a year.

Damn ya'll really turning on Jimmy lol.

He was magical in a couple of the playoff runs with a very very okayish roster around him. He running on fumes now but probs feels under appreciated by the Heat :manny:

what have you done for me lately?
Butler is turning 36 this year and will only continue to regress more and more

Jimmy Butler one of my favorite players in the league but he looks like an absolute bytch with these comments.

Not finding joy ? :mjlol:

jimmy butler is making 48 mill this year and has a guaranteed deal for 52 mill next year. Lives in Miami and gets to play professional basketball for a living where he is a starter.
