This is how he acts but never gets the blame because he's an "underdog" and "gritty". He's played 14 years and made $250+ mil. He beat the odds. This is the 1st situation where the organization is just as well-regarded as him so he can't rely on the incompetent org or immature players to control his narrative. Yes...when you will have cap room. Letting an asset with value, that had been your best player, just depreciate and then walk for nothing with no cap relief doesnt help in any way. Cant have it both ways. Cant belabor the new rules and talk about how it used to be. Stars arent going to FA like that. And they arent gonna be trades like that because piecing together contracts to trade isnt gonna be an option for a lot if teams. Foolish is letting an asset depreciate and walk for nothing. Sure you dont just trade just to trade but because of your own actions/inactions thats one of your 3 remaining options. One of those 3 is dealing with this shyt for another year.
