Omg I LOVE the cal park one!! And the Tinley one on that??! I remember pre covid i’d spend all day at the gym. 1 session at charter fitness & go eat then planet fitness.

I miss being a legit gym rat. My body was gonna be nice for summer :mjcry:

Honestly, you just gotta force yourself to do it. Start small then increase whatever you're doing each week or two. Hell, even just walking for about 30 min is a good start.

EDIT: Just read your actual post; only read the title beforehand. Get you a beginner's weight set from Wal-Mart or somewhere, and start there.

When op said that they don’t feel motivated it made me think of something I heard from.

Something like...

“A lot of people say I don’t feel motivated to do something. Well you’ve got it backwards. You do the something then you feel motivated to do it. Motivation literally follows the action.”

I find that true in many areas of life including fitness.

If you need motivation, it's because the end state scenario is not desirable enough to you. Where your efforts will lead you is not appealing enough to get you to start moving towards where you wanna be. Either that, or the amount of effort you believe it will cost you daily is more than you are willing to put up daily to get to your goals.

On the first point, being healthy and being in shape should be important enough to just start moving, even if you're not doing insane training or anything like that. Just look up what happens to your body as you age, and the difference between an elderly person's muscles and overall health if they exercise versus if they don't. That alone will make you see the importance of setting up a good foundation for your health and do something physical everyday, whether it's just going out for a walk and just doing a quick full-body workout with light dumbbells three days a week or something fancier.

Hell, before I started going back to the gym I was working out with three and eight-pound dumbbells for a couple weeks to get back into the swing of things and seeing results in the mirror. Nothing crazy, but if you're sedentary you'll be surprised how your body rewards you for doing anything.

On the second point, it does require emotional energy to exercise discipline. If you have a goal and you're discouraged from starting, often times it's because the idea of the amount of work it takes on a daily basis to get there in a reasonable time frame is just daunting. That's it. Work and time. Therefore, lower the bar. Give yourself more time to get to your goals (think 5-6 years instead of a year or six months), so the amount of work you have to do daily decreases proportionately.

The beauty of the work over time principle is that by giving yourself more time to get there, you are less discouraged by the daily workload, you enjoy the process more because it's not as intimidating, and it allows you to slowly build more discipline to do more work, and eventually get there earlier than expected. You just have to change your mindset on reaching your goals from a temporary "get to x-level fitness or body and I'm done" to the long game. I hope that helps.

Wake up in the morning and make your bed as well as you can, then take a shower, and once you done, let the cold shower water run on your body, regardless of the weather, or how terrible a cold shower feels, let that cold water run on your body till you stop gaping for air like a p*ssy...

Once you've achieved those 2 immediate tasks, making your bed and taking a cold shower (after having a nice warm shower), your brain will reward you with feel good hormones.
Going to the gym is just gonna be just another task.

But if you're laying in a comfortable warm bed "thinking" about gym, your brain is gonna convince you "it's too cold outside" "just rest today " etc etc but if you force yourself to make your bed and then go take a warm shower followed by a very nerve chilling cold shower afterwards, you will quite literally change the chemical/hormonal balances of your neurological functions.

I learned this trick many years ago.
Basically you gotta establish a pre gym routine that consists of small uncomfortable tasks and the "feel good" factor once you accomplish them.

But it has to be something daunting to your lazy self that you simply don't wanna do(your bed, cold shower, drinking tea with no sugar, drinking warm water with lime, packing all your essentials for training etc).

Peace

If breh gotta do all that just to make it to the gym, I don't like his chances.

@Rozay Oro, you done anything to change yet, or still on your old bullshyt? :shaq2:

Like I said, everyone I know that flipped from 0 to 60 in that fitness lane had something relatively jarring enough happen to make them want to change. Once they started seeing those changes, they usually kept it going because their motivation (or reward) was seeing progressively better results. The all of a sudden "new year, new me folks" didn't stick.
