You should have realized that the horseshoe and boot are individual, stand alone quantities by the 3rd line. It doesn't make sense otherwise

1st equation
H+H+H = 30 or 3(H) = 30
H=30/3 -> H=10

2nd Equation
H+S+S = 18 or 10+2S = 18
-10 from each side
2S=8
S=8/2 -> S=4

3rd Equation
S - B = 2 or 4-B = 2
4-2 = B -> 2=B

4th Equation
B+H*S = X
2+10*4 = 2+ (10*4) = 42

Your values are incorrect.

B=1

S=2

Look again where the boots and shoes are double.
