I make everyone I interview solve this math problem. And if they can't, I won't hire them

Honestly, any job giving you a test like this is probably some low level shyt. Not to say that OP is hiring for that cause I don’t know what he do. But for serious corporate type jobs, nikkas not bussing out no brain teasers, or personality test or shyt like that. Unless you talking bout some silly ass how many marbles is this jar tech ass job.

You’re all wrong including OP. Variables in Algebra don’t work like that.
/ doesn’t equal half of X
X, x, Xprime are all different variables. Any pictographic representation is a variable and subject to the same rules within algebra.
So, with that in mind, the last problem has completely different variables now that don't have enough information given to solve for in the equation.

The positions are low level.
But I don't want to hire people with low brain cell counts. Those are the types that you have to say the same shyt to over and over and over and over again. It makes it harder for the supervisors and everyone else.
I understand the premise. But I’m saying, if given one opportunity to take the test, plenty of overqualified people who do jobs considered way more complex would likely fail as well.

2nd Equation
H+S+S = 18 or 10+2S = 18
-10 from each side
2S=8
S=8/2 -> S=4
3rd Equation
S - B = 2 or 4-B = 2
4-2 = B -> 2=B
4th Equation
B+H*S = X
2+10*4 = 2+ (10*4) = 42
leaving my fukk up for posterity. didnt pay attention to the quantities of the symbols just banged out some math real quick
