Nah man, there’s a right way to do things. Even if you wanted to make a well done teriyaki glazed steak, you did that shyt all wrong.There's alot of elitism here when it comes to steak here gawddamn...the shyt was super tender and easy to cut.... I made it the way I wanted if y'all so inclined post up y'all pics of what you made...
Any time I used my cast iron skillet for steaks, the entire kitchen fills with smoke. Am I doing something wrong?

Do you keep it oiled when you store it. Cast iron should always be coated with oil even when not in use.
