People might say it’s pro consumer as it’s cheap which is true but they’re also forgetting that it will start affecting the type of games that are made. The aim of Gamepass is to hook the player to a subscription service. Sony style expensive AAA single player games will be a terrible model for them because people will subscribe to play those games and immediately after they’ve finished, quickly unsubscribe. Publishers are not going to spend 100m plus dollars and 5yrs on a single game just to see people pay $10 to play them. It’s not sustainable.

So instead of games like Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man and God of War, we will be seeing these Gaas games like Sea of thieves, AA games that are cheap and faster to make so they can be dumped on there to keep people subscribed and eventually the quality of the games will go down. Even Halo is now a Gaas and fable is rumoured to be an MMO. It’s not a coincidence that Microsoft’s gaming library has been getting worse and worse since they became obsessed with Gamepass whilst Sony, which actually goes in the opppsite direction has been delivering top quality games.

Breh. HBO and Neflix produce movies and tv series that are right up there with the cost of any Sony AAA title. Some surpass it.

People will subscribe to watch Game of Thrones and then cancel right after. I did it with House of Cards and Netflix back in the day before coming back to it for good. That's not stopping HBO and Netlfix from making more high budget content.

The subscription model has been proven. The people who are going to subscribe and cancel are factored into the money making calculation.

If you want to see what game pass is gonna look like in 5 years look at Apple Arcade. A bunch of disposable gaming, nothing genre-defining.

:mjlol: The fans wanted Fable and State of Decay 3 to be MMO-like. Those are bad examples.

:mjlol:Halo Infinite is going to be something that consumers can keep coming back to, like 2K and Madden. Whats wrong with that?

:mjlol: Name a classic game that folks played once and stopped? Every consensus great game is one that has replay value, so if Microsoft is giving you an entire library of games with replay value, that's a GOOD thing.

:mjlol: All the studios that Microsoft has on it's roster are developers that make solid games (Psychonauts developer, Obsidian, ect.). This fear of games having lower quality has yet to be proven. If anything the games have to be that much BETTER to keep people subscribed.

nikka we saw it with our own eyes when Microsoft's largest IP came out looking like Larry Holmes flabby and sick. Like this ain't Fable or MechAssualt, THIS IS HALO! The game that gave the XBOX credibility back in 2001, the game that grabbed the baton from Goldeneye on N64 and said "I got it from here".

HALO Infinite looked like shyt, the crown freaking jewel of the XBOX...with that, Microsoft is setting the tone for everything that is to follow. You can delude yourself all you want but everyone else sees Microsoft releasing a AA version of it's largest IP, giving it away for free on subscription, and doubling down on monetization with GAAS.

But everyone else see Microsoft releasing a shytty version of it's largest IP and turning into a low rent destiny.

:picard:

shyt does look like a SyFy channel version of Destiny too......

that's unacceptable.

and the irony of it being Bungie :dead:

xbox becoming the netflix of games basically means being filled with trash and having one decent thing to play every blue moon

which is...pretty accurate

:mjlol:It's accurate of Sony. Only 3 decent exclusives in it's entire gen, and you have to pay 60 dollars 25 times just to find the 3 decent ones.

:mjlol: Xbox won. All their games are free, and they're equal or better than anything Sony has.

Man what:mjlol:

I absolutely hate paying $60 for video games That's almost the reason why I stopped playing them all together.

The subscription model service has got me playing more games now.

Sony going to be ok Jesus.

STOP THE CONSOLE WARRING 2020

If I was modded up I would start handing out swift bans for console warring threads straight up.
