If the top players are making 200Gs now (in a system where players aren't paid equally), how can the avg salary go up if you start paying everyone equally?

I see that you're putting on your white cape for women's sports. UConn's women's BB is losing money is like Alabama football, Duke basketball or any blue blood losing money.

No woman’s basketball team in college or the WNBA even comes close to making money. They get by by being subsidized by men’s side. This is the problem that needs to be addressed first then the salary issue can be worked out.

1. Let women be drafted immediately after their freshman year of college instead of making them wait 3 years. Some of these chicks get real popular in March Madness only to have their hype fade year after year.
2. Have more advertisements that actually show off the star players - we make fun of the NBA for being obsessed with LeBron, but there is a reason they do that: we watch sports to see the best players do the unimaginable.
3. Consider accommodating to the players with shortened rims. There's a reason women's tennis has different rules then men's. There is NO shame in accommodating.
4. Pair some games next to NBA games on ABC. Heck, during the summer, schedule primetime games on ABC!
5. Consider rigging some games to create narratives. Or just be "meta". NBA and NFL are always having GOAT debates.

Women's college b-ball is way more popular then the WNBA 3.6 million people will watch the women's NCAA championship compared to 440,000 that watch the WNBA finals.

The problem is all the girls go to the same school like UCONN so only a like 3-4 teams are good every year and they just dominate everybody. if the girls would spread out more and go to different colleges they would get more shine and then more people would be fans if their teams were good. Then they would be more likely to follow them into the WNBA to follow their careers.

Nah, that would suck. The truth is that consumers love “superteams”.

I Don't know if I agree with this. Allowing aale to come out of HS and become an instant millionaire is a lot different than a chic coming out and now she's making 80k a year on a rookie deal.

Potentially flaming out of a career after 2-3 seasons after onlyaking peanuts ain't the wave the way it could be in the NBA where if you only play 3 seasons you're still a millionaire in the end after your bust.

You can't compare Womens college basketball to the WNBA. They have 2 entirely different markets. The colleges/students themselves are the market and are engaged in that game. College sports in general are geared towards the students, alumni, then the boosters/Vegas.

I also understand for women to not want to have to travel overseas to play professionally, when they have a capable professional league here. The NBA did try everything to generate more revenue for the WNBA, including sponsorships, ads on courts & jerseys...however, they are still doing a shytty job of promoting it.

They have to do more cross promotion - more commercials & ads, promos with both leagues. They have to involve the WNBA more during All-Star Weekend (the shooting drills, the 3-on-3s etc). They have to push their superstars - get them back into movies/TV shows.

For those saying they need to shut the league down, they can do the same with the G-League. They also operate at a loss, and I serious doubt they bring in any revenue.

I'd seen enough when they put them in the celebrity all star games and they looked average at best playing against rappers, actors and definitely retired NBA players who'd probably still cook 90% of their league.

Look at the Gonzalez twins..... they're wasting their prime years of athleticism to do everything BUT play professional basketball.....cause it brings in more money to be a pretty face that plays pickup basketball and promote things on IG and tiktok.

Put me in as saying the league has been trrrible since Cooper, Swoops, Leslie and the big white girl that played with NY. Now when I watch it seems over crowded and girls missing wide open lay ups.

First time seeing Paige Buckets and they need to put her in the league now! They also need about 5 more of her.

I remember growing up and there were a few girls that had crazy handle in a few of my hoods. I never see that anymore no one is getting yanked it seems. The excitement isn’t there your getting no dunks or just trash dunks, no good crossovers, no trash talking or anything that will make you do a double take. I mean why should I watch this? what’s in it for me?

I get what you tryna say. They, the WNBA, dont even carry themselves as the premier women’s bball league in the world salary wise, not even close, even tho they have the money too. They need more talent from overseas but if they not willing to pony up financially, they’ll ALWAYS be second tier even in womens basketball.
