In all phases of life we experience disappointment, but we cant allow ourselves to define our lives through those valleys and develop caustic attitudes because of them. Thats self defeating. Love and love lost is inherently painful, and we all respond to the hurt by going through our lil fukk-a-bish sht to varying degrees, but once again that attitude cant define you as a man. I have no clue what the story is behind your disillusionment, but whatever the case is we have to look at negativity as an opportunity to grow spiritually and mentally, and not regress into a blob of nothingness. I was there last year, and that period seems like it was a million miles away now. Good luck.

So why would marriage exist in an idealized world? Hint: If the thing you are advocating has never existed in human history then it is most likely idealized i.e. family units without terms that bind them as a norm.

And you need a piece of paper to deter a member of the family breaking up the unit. The penalties for divorce are not enough as is.

but the piece of paper doesn't really deter members from "breaking up the unit" divorce is often costly. the money spent towards lawyers and such would benefit the family more than anything.
