I can't put my finger on it...but I'm not feeling Hilary like that.

Wow, now people are underestimating Hillary. She has her negatives. But she has the making history factor at her back. She has single women particularly, and women in general on lock. She's better with white working class Reagan Democrat types than Obama...or Kerry...or Gore. She won't energize youth and minorities like Obama did, but they're still going to vote for her overwhelmingly rather than a Repub.

And she has all the connections and backing in Washington and corporate America.

I think Jeb Bush is a pretty good candidate...the best the GOP can muster. His biggest knock will probably be his last name. But the notion that anyone will destroy Hillary is absurd.

People still look to these vague sentimental factors instead of the hard statistical data when handicapping these things.

I spent all last cycle here telling people the election wasn't close and Obama would win by a large electoral margin and I was right. The numbers state by state just never added up to a Romney victory.

Now this is WAY premature and I'm not predicting anything with certainty. But I'm curious as to where people think Jeb would get to 270 from vs. Hillary. Let's assume he gets all 206 that Romney got. Where do the other 64 electoral votes potentially come from?

Hillary is lucky for now. She'd shyt a brick if they ever got a Rand Paul or Alan West to run against her. If both ran on the ticket it might be over. With the exception of Israel, Paul would appeal to the libertarian wing of voters and all those college kids, West would run hard and pull a fair amount of the black democrats who aren't liberals. Not to mention those who are against gov't intrusion, strong on defense (being "shot at" in Bosnia ain't the same as being a military officer). West is already against illegal immigration, not to mention his stance on Islam (sharia law), she'd have hell to pay. America loves the military so how could she compete with that?

But good luck, Elizabeth Warren might unseat her because Hillary isn't really liberal/progressive as she appears to be.

It's pretty weird to be honest, reading this topic is downright bizarro land. People acting like Hillary ain't the fave on either side of the spectrum by a pretty big margin. Like you said most of the demographics are behind her, women are going to go out for her in droves in every lane especially. I think people are trying to highlight her political baggage, establishment status and track record as some sort of guarantee that she won't fly, but that just doesn't make sense in a world where John McCain was a recent GOP candidate and Jeb Bush could possibly be theirs in 2016.

Yeah Allen West is damn near a fascist. The only way he gets elected is if the whole country was a bunch of Ted Nugents.

Honestly that was pretty strange all around. I can see Rand Paul being a decent candidate for the GOP VP but that's about it. Allen West is a joke, a punchline, a person people use as an example of political tardery gone wrong. He's Santorum status and C-Styles has a better chance of dropping a platinum rap album than Allan West does of seeing the presidency. Or even a cabinet post.

The most interesting thing would be if Romney were to run a 3rd time. There's been an uptick in "Draft Mitt" activity, allegedly from his former staff members.

If Mitt were to throw his hat in the ring, I think there's a real chance he might win against Hillary. He was dead on as far as the dissolution of Iraq and dealing with Russia. His whole foreign policy platform will be "I told you so" -- which completely negates Hillary's experience as Secretary of State.

Now if only he could actually say what he wants to say on domestic policy, instead of pandering to the far right . . .

:childplease: You really think American voters are going to vote based on what he said about Russia and Iraq? They don't have a clue what'sgoing on in either place themselves and don't care.

And lol@him getting through another GOP primary. He's post-88 Dukakis status. Not a chance.

If the GOP is seriously thinking about running Mitt again then they should just sit out 2016 and let Hillary win just to save the party the humiliation of a huge loss.

I love how cynical HL is about establishment politics. It's like literally watching a basketball game at this point lol.

That said, GOP should run Jeb Bush or Herman Cane against Hillary. Yes, Herman Cane. Both are still a long shot against HC though.

Lol@you thinking Herman Cain was ever serious about wanting to be President.

He started that bullshyt campaign and the 9-9-9 plan/gimmick he stole from a sims game in order to raise his profile and get paid.

Then he ended up the frontrunner and was like "Oh shyt, they think I'm serious??? :lupe:"

He's a charlatan. It wouldn't surprise me if his own camp started leaking all that stuff about his hoes in order to sabotage his own bogus campaign and get out when he saw he was leading in the polls.

Bonus Quote of the Day
"We had two Roosevelts. We had two Adams. It may be that certain families just have a sense of commitment or even a predisposition to want to be in politics."

-- Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Der Spiegel.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2014/07/08/bonus_quote_of_the_day.html#disqus_thread

:dahell:

The Roosevelts and the Adams both had more going on in their background and upbringing than just 'a predisposition to want to be in politics'. I mean, shyt, why not name drop the Rockefellers (or the Kennedys) while you're at it, if it's just about the politics.

Teddy, Franklin, John and Quincy (with special shoutouts to Sam, Abby, Alice and Eleanor) were on another level, and the US was better for it. I guess the Kennedys could have been, too, if not for the assassinations and the swimmer Teddy being a dikk. What is Hillary planning to bring to the table beyond having a vagina, now that Obama has stolen her healthcare thunder?

Why does Hillary want to be president? What is her vision for the nation?
